Tim Barry
Tim Barry is an American musician and the lead singer of the Richmond, Virginia-based punk rock band Avail. In addition to performing with Avail, he was the bass guitarist in the Richmond-based folk punk band (Young) Pioneers from 1994 to 1995. Barry has been performing folk music on his own since 2004. ''Frank Turner / Tim Barry'' is a split 7-inch EP by folk punk musicians Frank Turner and Tim Barry. It was released on October 13, 2009, on Suburban Home Records in the United States on 500 on black vinyl and 1000 on blue. The single was available on pre-order from ''Vinyl Collective'' and at the 2009 ''Revival Tour'' where both artists were playing. The release features a code that allows the buyer to download a digital copy of the tracks from the Suburban Home Records website. Avail
Avail is an American punk rock band from Richmond, Virginia, United States. Originally from Reston, Virginia, the band formed in 1987, its members including Joe Banks, Doug Crosby, Brien Stewart, and Mikey Warstler. The only original remaining member, guitar player Joe Banks, teamed up with rival band LDK's (Learning Disabled Kids) Tim Barry. They moved to Richmond in 1990, and soon, after numerous line up changes, put together a solid lineup to release their first album ''Satiate'' in 1992. Many of their lyrics center on Richmond. The band released six studio albums. The band has never officially disbanded, but has not released any new material since 2002 and stopped playing live shows in 2007. On March 26, 2019, the band announced a reunion show at The National in Richmond, Virginia, scheduled for July 19. Since then, they have played multiple shows and continue to tour. Frank Turner
Francis Edward Turner (born 28 December 1981), is an English punk and folk singer-songwriter from Meonstoke, Hampshire. He began his career as the vocalist of post-hardcore band Million Dead, then embarked upon a primarily acoustic-based solo career following the band's split in 2005. In the studio and during live performances, Turner is accompanied by his backing band, The Sleeping Souls, which consists of Ben Lloyd (guitar, mandolin), Tarrant Anderson (bass), Matt Nasir (piano, mandolin) and Callum Green (drums). To date, Turner has released nine solo albums, four rarities compilation albums, one retrospective "best of" album, one split album and five EPs. Folk punk (known in its early days as rogue folk) is a fusion of folk music and punk rock. It was popularized in the early 1980s by the Pogues in England, and by Violent Femmes in the United States.
