Dale Tillery
Dale B. Tillery (born February 17, 1957) is an American judge, politician, and lawyer and currently serves as the judge of the 134th Judicial District Court in Dallas County. He was first elected to the bench in 2010. Political career Tillery was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1994 to replace the retiring Al Granoff. During his freshman term, his interests were focused on juvenile crime and public education; he passed legislation to help police departments crack down on gang activity. His interests also included pensions and investments; during his final term, he served as chairman on the House Committee on Pensions and Investments. As chairman, he sponsored legislation to tap a then-$6.5 billion surplus in the state teachers’ pension fund to increase pensions for retired teachers by up to 10 percent. Dwight Tillery
Dwight Tillery is an American politician of the Democratic Party who is active in local politics of Cincinnati, Ohio and served as the city's mayor from 1991 to 1993. Tillery grew up in the city's West End and attended the University of Cincinnati in the 1960s, where he helped found the university's United Black Association and graduated with a degree in political science. He also holds a J.D. degree from the University of Michigan Law School. Tillery served as mayor of Cincinnati from 1991 to 1993, the city's second African-American mayor. He briefly ran for the Democratic nomination for Congress in 1992 before dropping out of the race in order to focus on his mayoral duties. He was a member of the Cincinnati City Council for many years, until 1998, when term limits forced his retirement. Amateur career Born in Albany, NY, Tillery had an amateur record of 45-2. Professional career Tillery turned professional in 1980 and was a hard punching journeyman heavyweight during his career. He is best known for his two fights against Riddick Bowe in 1991. His first fight with Bowe is known for its bizarre conclusion. Bowe dominated the first round and dropped Tillery. After the round ended, Tillery walked toward Bowe and taunted him, and Bowe responded by punching Tillery. Jerry Dewayne Tillery Jr. (born October 8, 1996) is an American football defensive tackle for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Notre Dame. High school career Tillery attended Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana. As a senior he had 93 tackles and seven sacks. He committed to the University of Notre Dame to play college football. College career Tillery was originally going to play offensive tackle as a freshman at Notre Dame in 2015, but it was later decided he would play defensive tackle. Murder Of Ken Tillery
Ken Tillery of Jasper, Texas, was murdered on January 19, 2002. On the night of his murder, Tillery, a white man, was outside of a suspected crackhouse when he was approached by three black males, Darrell Gilbert, Blake Little, and Anthony Holmes, and offered a ride in their vehicle, an early 1980s model Oldsmobile Cutlass. Tillery accepted, but an argument later developed over the gas money he agreed to pay. Tillery expected to pay only $5, but the men demanded $50. When the car passed Tillery's home and arrived at a gas station, he jumped out and tried to flee, but was caught and beaten by the three men. Tillery's attackers ran him over. The FBI investigated and ruled out federal hate crime charges. Jasper County Sheriff Billy Rowles concluded, "It was just about drugs and money." Holmes pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and received a 15-year term. Little was convicted of murder and sentenced to 70 years incarceration. Both are still serving their sentences. Lake Tillery is a reservoir between Falls Reservoir and Blewett Falls Lake in the Uwharrie Lakes Region of North Carolina. It is entirely within Stanly County and Montgomery County, NC. The lake was created by impounding the Pee Dee River, which is created by the confluence of the Yadkin River and the Uwharrie River several miles to the north. Tillery-Fries House, also known as Conoconnara Hall, The Mansion, and Oak Grove, is a historic plantation complex located near Tillery, Halifax County, North Carolina. The Federal-style main house was built about 1800, and enlarged and remodeled about 1891 in the Colonial Revival style. It is a large, two-story with attic gable-roofed, frame dwelling with a two-story wing.
