''Till the End of the Night'' (german: Bis ans Ende der Nacht) is a 2023 German thriller film directed and co-written by Christoph Hochhäusler. Starring Timocin Ziegler, Thea Ehre and Michael Sideris, the film is about an undercover agent who is supposed to gain the trust of a criminal through a fictitious relationship with a contact person. It is selected to compete for the Golden Bear at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, where it had its world premiere on 24 February 2023. The film is also nominated for Best Feature Film Teddy Award. It was released in Germany on 6 July 2023. Synopsis Undercover agent Robert is given the task to infiltrate the drug organization as the partner of the trans woman Leni, with the aim of gaining the trust of a big dealer. Christoph Hochhäusler (born 10 July 1972) is a German film director and screenwriter. His film '' Falscher Bekenner'' was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. His film ''The City Below'' was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival. At the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival his 2023 film Till the End of the Night was one of the nominees for the Berlinale's Golden Bear. It was nominated for the Teddy Award for Best Feature Film, and one of the film's stars, Thea Ehre, received the Silver Bear for Best Supporting Performance. Teddy Award
The Teddy Award is an international film award for films with LGBT topics, presented by an independent jury as an official award of the Berlin International Film Festival (the Berlinale). In the most part, the jury consists of organisers of gay and lesbian film festivals, who view films screened in all sections of the Berlinale; films do not have to have been part of the festival's official competition stream to be eligible for Teddy awards. Subsequently, a list of films meeting criteria for LGBT content is selected by the jury, and a 3,000-Euro Teddy is awarded to a feature film, a short film and a documentary. The 38th Guadalajara International Film Festival took place from June 3 to 9, 2023, in Guadalajara, Mexico. ''Heroic'' received the Mezcal Award while Costa Rican film ''I Have Electric Dreams'' won the Best Ibero-American Film award.
