Tilak Jayaratne
Tilak Jayaratne(December 30, 1943 – September 7, 2012) was a veteran broadcaster, media personnel, teacher and researcher and writer for radio and television. He was instrumental in introducing alternative media forum for people involved in the electronic media for the last 30 years. His scripts of five avant-garde teleplay which ‘Andukola’, ‘Kadulla’, ‘Nadunana Puttu’, ‘Wanaspathi’, ‘Dande Lu Gini’ and ‘Kampitha Vil’ a result of ethnographic research conducted living with the community of people was outstanding themes to the teledrama industry highly acclaimed. Kalutara
Kalutara ( si, කළුතර, ta, களுத்துறை) or Kalutota is a major city in Kalutara District, Western Province, Sri Lanka. It is also the administrative capital of Kalutara District. It is located approximately south of the capital Colombo. The city holds a unique position for one of the four major rivers in Sri Lanka, the Kalu Ganga, which joins the sea at the centre of the city. Kaluthara is known for making rope, baskets, and other articles from the fibre of the coconut palm. The area also produces the Mangosteens, a fruit introduced from Malaysia in the 19th century. Etymology Once an important spice-trading centre, the town's name is derived from the Kalu Ganga ('Black River' in native Sinhala).
