Tiisetso Martha Makhubela (born 24 April 1997) is a South African soccer player who plays as a central midfielder for SAFA Women's League club Mamelodi Sundowns and the South Africa women's national team. Club career Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies In 2021, she joined Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa and was part of the team that were runner's up for the 2022 Cosafa Women's Champions League and the 2022 CAF Women's Champions League. In 2023, she was part of the squad that won the 2023 Cosafa Women's Champions League. International career Makhubela was part of the South African women's national team at the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations were they finished in second place. Mamelodi
Mamelodi, part of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality, is a township set up by the then apartheid government northeast of Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. Etymology "Mamelodi" is the name derived from the Sepedi word with the prefix being "ma" meaning mother, and the suffix "melodi" meaning melodies. Its meaning can be translated to mean ''Mother of Melodies''. History The township was established when 16 houses were built on the farm Vlakfontein in June 1953 and later the name changed to Mamelodi. The Group Areas Act designated Mamelodi as a blacks-only area, though this became moot with the fall of Apartheid in 1994. The 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup was the eighth edition of the FIFA Women's World Cup, the quadrennial international Women's association football championship contested by 24 women's national teams representing member associations of FIFA. The 2023 SAFA Women's League was the fourth season of the professional SAFA Women's League, and the 14th season of nation-wide league competition in women's football in South Africa. It was the 2nd season played with 16 teams. Teams The 2022 season Golden Ladies and Tsunami Queens FC were relegated to the Sasol National Championship, while Vasco Da Gama changed its name to TS Galaxy Queens after it was purchased by Tim Sukazi, who owns TS Galaxy FC.
