Tihamah Resistance
The Tihamah Resistance is an armed group formed by locals of Yemen's Tihamah region, aiming to resist Houthi control of the west coast region of Yemen. The group was formed in 2014, when Houthis Houthi takeover in Yemen, seized Al Hudaydah and the rest of Yemen Arab Republic, north Yemen. The group was active in 2015 at the start of the war, participating in the Taiz campaign (2015–2020), Battle of Taiz on the side of the pro-Hadi coalition. In December 2017, the group took part in the Al Hudaydah governorate offensive, alongside UAE, Saudi, Hadi loyalists and Southern Movement fighters. The group is closely aligned with Tareq Saleh's Yemeni National Resistance, National Resistance, and the Giants Brigades. Al Hudaydah
Al-Hudaydah ( ar, الْحُدَيْدَة, al-ḥudayda), also transliterated as Hodeda, Hodeida, Hudaida or Hodeidah, is the fourth-largest city in Yemen and its principal port on the Red Sea. As of 2004, its population was 402,560 and it is the centre of the Al Hudaydah Governorate. History In the Islamic chronicles, the name Al-Hudaydah was first mentioned in the year 1454/55 and the city became a popular and important one in the 1520s when the Ottomans took over Yemeni Tihāmah. In 1830s, Al Hudaydah was controlled by Ibrahim Pasha's troops, which turned over its administration to sherif Husayn ibn Ali Haydar. In 1849, it became part of the Yemen Eyalet. The Malay writer Abdullah bin Abdul Kadir visited Al Hudaydah on his pilgrimage to Mecca in 1854, and describes the city in his account of the journey, mentioning that the custom of chewing khat was prevalent in the city at this time. Battle Of Al Hudaydah
The siege of Al Hudaydah ( ar, معركة الحديدة, translit. ''Ma‘rakat al-Hudaydah''), codenamed Operation Golden Victory, was a major Saudi-led coalition assault on the port city of Al Hudaydah in Yemen. It was spearheaded by the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia and has been considered as the largest battle since the start of Saudi Arabian-led intervention in Yemen in 2015. Beginning on 13 June 2018 and aiming to dislodge Houthi forces from the port, the objective of the assault was to recapture the city of Al Hudaydah and end the alleged supply of funds, weapons, and ballistic missiles to the Houthis through Al Hudaydah port. Houthi Movement
The Houthi movement (; ar, ٱلْحُوثِيُّون ''al-Ḥūthīyūn'' ), officially called Ansar Allah (' ''Partisans of God'' or ''Supporters of God'') and colloquially simply Houthis, is an Islamist, Islamist political and armed movement that emerged from Saada in Yemen Arab Republic, North Yemen in the 1990s. The Houthi movement is a predominately Zaidiyyah, Zaidi Shia Islam, Shia force, whose leadership is drawn largely from the Houthi tribe. Giants Brigades
The Southern Giants Brigades (), transliterated as Al Amalikah or Al Amaliqah, or simply known as the Giants Brigades, is a Cabinet of Yemen, pro-government Yemeni militia. Its fighters are mostly South Yemeni tribesmen from Lahij Governorate, Lahej, Abyan Governorate, Abyan and Dhale Governorate, Dhale. Tareq Saleh
Tareq Mohammed Abdullah Saleh (; born 1970) is a Yemeni military commander and the nephew of the late President Ali Abdullah Saleh. His father was Major General Mohammed Abdullah Saleh. Prior to the Yemeni crisis, national crisis beginning in 2011, he headed the elite Republican Guard (Yemen), Presidential Guard. In 2012, he was ordered to stand down from this position but re-emerged as a commander in the Houthi-Saleh alliance when the Yemeni Civil War (2015–present), Yemeni Civil War broke out in 2015. Taiz Campaign (2015–2020)
The Taiz campaign is a protracted military confrontation between opposing Yemeni forces in the city of Taiz for control of the city and surrounding area. The battle began one month after the start of the Yemeni Civil War. Background Houthi forces backed by troops loyal to Ali Abdullah Saleh, Yemen's influential former president and General People's Congress party head, swept into Taiz on 22 March, capturing the military airport and other key parts of the city.
