Tigrillos Medellín
Tigrillos Medellín Basket Club (in English: Medellín Tigers Basketball Club) is a Colombian basketball club based in Medellín. They play in the Baloncesto Profesional Colombiano, the top level league in Colombia. Founded in 2012 as Academia de la Montaña, home games are played in the Coliseo Iván de Bedout. Tigrillos had its best season in 2016-I, when they won their first national championship. History The team was founded on November 30, 2012, and entered the league in the 2013-I season and was among the six best teams of the leagues. In the following 2013-II season, they played in the Grand Final. Three years later, in the 2016-I season, Academia de la Montaña won their first national championship. In 2020, the team name was changed to Tigrillos Medellín. Coliseo Iván de Bedout is an indoor sporting arena that is located in Medellín, Colombia. The arena is mainly used to host basketball and futsal games. The arena's seating capacity for basketball and futsal games is 6,000. The arena has been a part of the Medellín Sports Coliseum since 2009. Baloncesto Profesional Colombiano (in English: Professional Colombian Basketball), currently known as the Liga WPlay de Baloncesto for sponsorship reasons, is the premier professional basketball championship in Colombia. The championship was established in 1992 and is organized by the Federación Colombiana de Baloncesto (in English: Colombian Basketball Federation). The first national semi-professional championship was called Copa Sprite, sponsored by the eponymous soda trademark. Titanes de Barranquilla (in English: Titans of Barranquilla) is a Colombian professional basketball team based in Barranquilla. The team plays in the Baloncesto Profesional Colombiano, where it has won the championship four times since the establishment of the team in 2018.
