Tigran Gyokchyan
Tigran Gyokchyan (in Armenian Տիգրան Գյոկչյան, in Western Armenian Տիգրան Կէօքճեան; born January 3, 1965) is an Armenian basketball coach who currently coaches the Lebanese women's national basketball team and is the head coach for Armenian basketball team BC Dvin. Coaching career In 2016 Gyokchyan as coach of Armenia national basketball team, he led them to their first ever European basketball title, helping them win the FIBA European Championship for Small Countries, defeating the hosts Andorra national basketball team in the final 79–71. Sagesse Sports Club (), known as Hekmeh ( ar, الحكمة) in Arabic, is a Lebanese sports club based in Beirut. The basketball team was established in 1992, as part of the Club Sagesse established in 1943 with mainly the football (soccer) team. History ''Al-Hikma'' in classical Arabic, ''El-Hekmeh'' in Lebanese dialect stands for "wisdom", thus also the French alternative name of the club, Sagesse (meaning wisdom in French). Lebanon Men's National Basketball Team
The Lebanon men's national basketball team (; french: Équipe du Liban de basket-ball), controlled by the Lebanese Basketball Federation (FLB), has represented Lebanon in basketball since its inception in 1947. The squad is governed by FIBA, and is part of the FIBA Asia zone. Lebanon is considered one of the top teams in Asia, finishing runners-up in the FIBA Asia Cup four times (in 2001, 2005, 2007 and 2022). The team has also participated in the FIBA World Championship three times ( 2002, 2006 and 2010), failing to qualify past the preliminary round on all three occasions. In 2013, Lebanon was banned by FIBA in all sanctioned events after political interventions in Lebanese basketball. Hayk Gyokchyan
Hayk Gyokchyan (born December 11, 1989, in Yerevan) is a Lebanese professional basketball player. He currently plays for Al Riyadi Club Beirut in the Lebanese Basketball League. He finished his college season at Franklin & Marshall College. In early 2014 receiving an offer from Homenetmen Beirut B.C., he played briefly in the club, before joining Hekmeh B.C. Homenetmen fans used to boo him for leaving home to play for money in Sagesse/Hekmeh B.C. In 2016, Hayk came back to play for his home club Homenetmen, and then joined another club, Riyadi Beirut. Western Armenian ( Classical spelling: , ) is one of the two standardized forms of Modern Armenian, the other being Eastern Armenian. It is based mainly on the Istanbul Armenian dialect, as opposed to Eastern Armenian, which is mainly based on the Yerevan Armenian dialect.
