Tigran Arzakantsyan
Tigran Grishayi Arzakantsyan ( hy, Տիգրան Գրիշայի Արզաքանցյան; born 7 August 1966) is an Armenian businessman and politician who formerly served as a deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia. He is the owner of the Great Valley wine and cognac company and is the current Chairman of the Strength of the Fatherland party. Biography Tigran Arzakantsyan was born on 7 August 1966 in the city of Kamo of the Armenian SSR (now Gavar in Gegharkunik Province). From 1979 to 1984, he studied at the Zootechnic and Veterinary College of Kamo and graduated as a veterinary technician. After graduation he was drafted into the Soviet Army and served there from 1984 to 1986. From 1986 to 1998, Arzakantsyan was engaged in business in Russia. In 1998, together with Robert Azaryan he established the Great Valley wine and cognac company. Uzh Hayrenyats ( hy, Հայրենիքի զորություն), also known as Strength of the Fatherland or Strength of the Homeland is a political party in Armenia. History The Strength of the Fatherland party was founded on 3 April 2022 during a party congress held in Yerevan. During the congress, Tigran Arzakantsyan was elected as party Chairman while Arzakantsyan's wife, Natalia Rotenberg was elected as the chairperson of the supreme council. Arzakantsyan had previously served as a deputy in the National Assembly as a member of the Republican Party of Armenia. 2021 Armenian Parliamentary Election
Snap parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on 20 June 2021. The elections had initially been scheduled for 9 December 2023, but were called earlier due to a political crisis following the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh War and an alleged attempted coup in February 2021. Nikol Pashinyan, who had served as Prime Minister since 2018, resigned in April 2021 and subsequently the seventh National Assembly was dissolved on 10 May. Pashinyan continued to serve as acting prime minister until the elections were held. Following the election, Pashinyan's Civil Contract party received 54% of the vote and won 71 seats, a majority in the 107-seat parliament. 2017 Armenian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on 2 April 2017. They were the first elections after a constitutional referendum in 2015 that approved reforms for the country to become a parliamentary republic. The result was a victory for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, which won 58 of the 105 seats in the National Assembly. 2007 Armenian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on 12 May 2007. 1,364 candidates ran for the 131 seats, 41 of which were constituency seats with the remaining 90 being filled by a proportional party-list system. The electoral threshold was five per cent. Results The BBC reported a turnout of over 60%.
