Tiger Style
Tiger Style is an American independent video game studio. The studio was founded by industry veterans Randy Smith and David Kalina in 2008. Their first title '' Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor'', was released in August 2009, followed by ''Waking Mars'' in 2012. They are a fully independent collective of designers, artists, and musicians. The studio is known for working remotely, and is known for their cooperative pay structure, distributing royalties among the game production teams. David Kalina
David Kalina is the co-founder and co-owner of the award-winning game studio Tiger Style. Kalina started Tiger Style with Randy Smith in 2009, and released the award-winning game Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor, and most recently the Independent Games Festival nominated game Waking Mars. Kalina is a games industry veteran, previously working on projects such as Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, Deus Ex: Invisible War, and the Thief series. Kalina currently resides in Melbourne, Australia. Randy Smith (game Designer)
Randy Smith (born June 14, 1974) is an American video game designer. He co-owns and is the creative director of Tiger Style. He has worked extensively on the ''Thief'' series with both Looking Glass Studios and Ion Storm. Smith started Tiger Style in 2009 and shipped the award-winning game '' Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor'' on iOS, followed by ''Waking Mars'' and '' Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon''. He spent time on the Steven Spielberg collaboration code-named LMNO at EA Los Angeles studio, which was eventually canceled. Smith has lectured on game design at GDC, and additionally, Smith has participated in the Indie Game Jam. Between 2007 and 2013, Smith wrote a monthly column called "The Possibility Space" for ''Edge'' in the UK. ''Waking Mars'' is a 2012 platform-adventure game developed and published by Tiger Style. Players jetpack through underground Mars caves and encounter a host of alien lifeforms that operate as an ecosystem. Players must master the behaviors of these creatures to create ecosystems of their own design to survive and discover the secrets of Mars' past. The game has been nominated for Best Mobile Game and Excellence in Audio in 2012 Independent Game Festival. In June 2012, ''Waking Mars'' was also named the Best Game of 2012 (So Far) by '' Paste''. The game was originally developed for iOS and released on iTunes in March 2012.
