Tiffany Stansbury
Tiffany Stansbury (born January 16, 1983, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American professional basketball player in the WNBA. The daughter of former NBA player Terence Stansbury, Tiffany Stansbury attended college at NC State and graduated in 2006. Following her collegiate career, she was selected 29th overall in the 2006 WNBA draft by the Houston Comets. Stansbury spent the 2006 WNBA season with the Los Angeles Sparks, appearing in 4 games. A late pre-season cut by the Sparks in 2007, Stansbury signed with Minnesota on May 25. In 30 games with the Lynx, Stansbury averaged 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Tiffany Stansbury also played 10 seasons in Europe (France, Italy, and Czech Republic) and Asia (Turkey). The center (C), or the centre, also known as the five or the pivot, is one of the five Basketball position, positions in a regulation basketball game. The center is normally the tallest player on the team, and often has a great deal of strength and body mass as well. In the NBA, the center is typically close to tall. They traditionally play close to the basket in the low post. Centers are valued for their ability to protect their own goal from high-percentage close attempts on defense, while scoring and rebounding with high efficiency on offense. In the 1950s and 1960s, George Mikan and Bill Russell were centerpieces of championship dynasties and defined early prototypical centers. 2006 WNBA Draft
On November 16, 2005, the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) held an expansion draft for the Chicago Sky. It was the first expansion draft since the 2000 season, when the WNBA welcomed the Miami Sol, Portland Fire, Indiana Fever, and Seattle Storm into the league. On April 5, 2006, the WNBA Draft took place at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. The draft was held in conjunction with the 2006 NCAA women's basketball tournament, which had its championship game the night before at the TD Banknorth Garden, now known as TD Garden, in Boston. The 2007 WNBA Season was the Women's National Basketball Association's 11th season. On January 3, 2007 The Charlotte Sting folded. Three months later on April 4, the Women's National Basketball Association, WNBA held their annual draft in Cleveland, Ohio. Lindsey Harding of Duke University was selected number one by the Phoenix Mercury. The Duke University, Duke point guard was traded later to the Minnesota Lynx for Tangela Smith.
