Tiemen Groen
Tiemen Groen (6 July 1946 – 26 October 2021) was a Dutch cyclist who won four consecutive world titles in the 4 km individual pursuit in 1964–1967; His sporting career began with DTS Zaandam. He finished fourth in this event at the 1964 Summer Olympics. He also won a silver medal in the team time trial at the 1966 UCI Road World Championships The 1966 UCI Road World Championships took place on 28 August 1966 at the Nürburgring, Germany. Follega ( fry, Follegea) is a small village in De Fryske Marren in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands ) , anthem = ( en, "William of Nassau") , image_map = , map_caption = , subdivision_type = Sovereign state , subdivision_name = Kingdom of the Netherlands , established_title = Before independence , established_date = Spanish Netherl .... It had a population of around 155 in 2017. The village was first mentioned in the 13th century as Ecclesia Folcolfi, and means "the settlement of Folle (person)". The church was demolished in the 17th century and never rebuilt. On 2 October 1799, English soldiers tried to take the bridge, but were attacked by armed citizens and had to retreat. The local inn used to be called De Drie Kogels (The three bullets), because it had received three bullet holes during the fighting. In 1840, it was home to 231 people. UCI Track Cycling World Championships
The UCI Track Cycling World Championships are the set of world championship events for the various disciplines and distances in track cycling. They are regulated by the Union Cycliste Internationale. Before 1900, they were administered by the UCI's predecessor, the International Cycling Association (ICA). Current events include: time trial, keirin, individual pursuit, team pursuit, points race, scratch race, sprint, team sprint, omnium and madison. Women's events are generally shorter than men's. Events which are no longer held include the motor paced events and tandem events. History World championships were first held in 1893, in Chicago, under the ICA. They were for amateurs.
