Tie Uuteen Päivään
Finland was represented by Markku Aro and Koivistolaiset (sisters Anja and Anneli Koivisto), with the song "Tie uuteen päivään", at the 1971 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 13 April in Dublin. Before Eurovision National final The Finnish national final was held on 13th February at the YLE TV Studios in Helsinki, hosted by Eveliina Pokela and Reijo Salminen. The winner was chosen by a jury consisting of 30 people. At Eurovision On the night of the final Markku Aro and Koivistolaiset performed 17th in the running order, following Yugoslavia and preceding Norway. The entry was conducted by Ossi Runne. At the close of voting, Finland picked up 84 points and placed 8th of the 18 entries. Markku Aro
Markku Aro (; born Markku Tuomas Puputti on 3 February 1950 in Mouhijärvi, Finland), is a Finnish singer who represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 1971 in Ireland with the pop-duo . They appeared with the song " Tie uuteen päivään" ("Road to a New Day"). He has released many albums in his country and was awarded with the '' Iskelmä-Finlandia'' prize for schlager music in 2017. Rauno Lehtinen
Rauno Väinämö Lehtinen (7 April 1932 in Tampere – 1 May 2006 in Helsinki) was a Finnish conductor and composer. He composed the 1960s hit '' Letkis'' which was based on a folk-dance. Dublin

Jim Pembroke
James Francis Pembroke (27 January 1946 – 8 October 2021) was a British musician who was the vocalist of the Finnish progressive rock band Wigwam. Life and career Pembroke was born in London, and played with London group Taverners' Guild before arriving in Finland in 1965. He immediately found himself in some demand, gigging on an ad hoc basis with various lineups such as the Beatmakers, later renamed Jormas, until forming The Pems. He joined Blues Section in 1967, recording a blues-jazz-pop fusion album now considered seminal in Finnish rock. After the band folded, Pembroke taught himself piano, then joined Wigwam in early 1969. He remained their frontman and principal songwriter, while also releasing occasional solo records. In 2013, Pembroke was granted an artist's pension by the Finnish state. In the mid-1990s, he moved to the United States, married, and later lived in Kansas City, Missouri. Pepe Willberg
Pertti "Pepe" Willberg (formerly Toivo Pertti Uolevi Willberg, till 1955 Kaukonen; born on 17 December 1946) is a Finnish singer, songwriter and guitarist. Biography Willberg was born in Turku and started his musical career in the beginning of the 1960s, playing the rhythm guitar in a Lauttasaari (Helsinki) based band called the Islanders. Since then he has performed, for example as the lead singer for the bands Jormas and Pepe & Paradise. Eero Koivistoinen
Eero Koivistoinen (born 13 January 1946, in Helsinki) is a Finnish jazz musician and saxophone player, who started his career in the mid-1960s. Koivistoinen has worked as a musician, composer, arranger, conductor, producer and educator. He first heard jazz from the records his sailor brother had brought in from his travels. As a youngster Koivistoinen studied classical violin, saxophone and also composition at the Sibelius Academy, and later jazz at Berklee College of Music in Boston. His first line-up featured the drummer Edward Vesala and bassist Pekka Sarmanto. Koivistoinen was also a member of the seminal Finnish rock band Blues Section in the years 1967 and 1968. Hector (musician)
Heikki Veikko Harma (born 20 April 1947 in Helsinki, Finland) is a Finnish singer-songwriter who has also distinguished himself as a translator of song lyrics, but has written popular lyrics of his own too. To the public he is better known by the name Hector, which he has used since the release of his 1965 debut single "Palkkasoturi", a Finnish translation of Buffy Sainte-Marie's " Universal Soldier". His 1974 album ''Hectorock I'' became the fastest-selling record in Finnish history, selling 50,000 units within a few months. Aarno Raninen
Aarno Raninen (27 April 1944 – 3 September 2014) was a Finnish singer, songwriter and musician. His main instrument was piano but he has also mastered violin, cello and accordion. Born in Kotka, Raninen began his musical studies at a young age. After he moved to Helsinki in 1966 he got a job as a studio conductor at Musiikki-Fazer. While working there he made a lot of cooperative work with the likes of songwriter Juha Vainio. Carola Christina Standertskjöld-Liemola (23 March 1941 – 12 November 1997), professionally known as Carola, was a Finnish jazz and pop singer. Her style was partially inspired by American singers of the 1950s. Simultaneously, it was in the spirit of the modal jazz scene going down in Europe in the 1960s. Mostly, Carola's jazz repertoire consisted in idiosyncratic versions of American songs in English, while her most famous jazz track "The Flame" was an original composition by Esa Pethman and the lyrics by the singer herself. Arja Enni Helena Saijonmaa (born 1 December 1944 in Mikkeli) is a Finnish singer, political activist and occasional actress. Life and career She studied at the Sibelius Academy and earned a Bachelor of Arts at the Helsinki University. She made her breakthrough as a singer in Sweden. She has made albums with Swedish translations of songs by Mikis Theodorakis, as well as covers of Zarah Leander songs.
