Bill Tidy
William Edward "Bill" Tidy, Order of the British Empire, MBE (born 9 October 1933), is a British cartoonist, writer and television personality, known chiefly for his comic strips. Tidy was appointed Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, MBE in 2000 for "Services to Journalism". He is noted for his charitable work, particularly for the Lord's Taverners, which he has supported for over 30 years. Deeply proud of his working-class roots in Northern England, his most abiding cartoon strips, such as ''The Cloggies'' and ''The Fosdyke Saga'', have been set in an exaggerated version of that environment. Charles Meymott Tidy
Charles Meymott Tidy (1843–1892) was an English medical man and sanitary chemist, a barrister who wrote also on legal matters. Life Born on 2 February 1843, he was the son of William Callender Tidy, a physician in South Hackney and his wife, Charlotte Meymott. After private schools he went to the Hackney Church of England school, and then entered as a student at the London Hospital under Henry Letheby, becoming M.R.C.S. and L.S.A. in 1864. In 1865 Tidy entered the University of Aberdeen, and in 1866 graduated C.M. and M.B. with the highest honours. On his return to London he took up his father's medical practice at Hackney, and continued in practice for about ten years. During this period he was also associated at the London Hospital with Letheby, as joint lecturer in chemistry, and became interested in questions of sanitary reform and public health. Frank Tidy
Frank Tidy (17 May 1932 – 27 January 2017) was an English cinematographer. Life Born in Liverpool, Tidy initially worked in stop motion animation before beginning working as a cinematographer. Along with Roger Woodburn and Peter Biziou, he founded the company Valley Films, and would work on hundreds of commercials, many of which directed by eventual film director Ridley Scott and his brother Tony Scott. In 1977, he would serve as cinematographer on Scott's directorial debut ''The Duellists'', for which he received a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Cinematography. Tidy's filmography would eventually include '' Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot'', ''Under Siege'' and ''Chain Reaction''. He was a Genie Award nominee for Best Cinematography in 1986 for the film ''One Magic Christmas''. Tidy died on 27 January 2017, aged 84, at a Kent nursing home following a battle with dementia. George Tidy
George Thomas Tidy (28 July 1930 – 12 February 2023) was a Scottish Association football, footballer who played as a Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper during the 1950s. Although he initially started as a centre-half with Royston Rosebery in 1946, he played in goal shortly before being transferred to Edinburgh City F.C. (1928), Edinburgh City during the 1949–50 season. He joined Dunfermline Athletic F.C., Dunfermline Athletic at the start of the 1951–52 season, who at the time were in the Scottish Football League "B" Division. He made eleven first-team appearances; 9 in the league and 2 in the Supplementary Cup before moving on to Brechin City F.C., Brechin City at the start of the 1952–53 season. Henry Letheby Tidy
Sir Henry "Harry" Letheby Tidy (28 October 1877 – 3 June 1960) was a British physician and gastroenterologist. Biography After education at Winchester College and then at New College, Oxford, he studied medicine at the London Hospital and graduated BM BCh Oxon in 1905. After junior appointments at the London Hospital, he studied at Freiburg and Berlin, and then was appointed demonstrator of clinical pathology at the London Hospital. In 1906 he graduated DM Oxon and also qualified MRCS (Member of the Royal College of Surgeons), LRCP (Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians). In 1908 he qualified MRCP. In the 1920s he also held appointments to the Poplar Hospital and the Great Northern Hospital. In WWI he joined the RAMC and attained the rank of major. Thomas Tidy
Thomas Tidy (9 February 1846 – 26 February 1892) was an English cricketer who played in one first-class cricket match for Kent County Cricket Club in 1868. Tidy was probably born at Southborough in Kent in 1846, the son of Thomas and Jane Tidy. His father was the village blacksmith, a profession which Thomas and two of his brothers went in to. Warwick Nigel Tidy (born 10 February 1953) is a former English cricketer. A right-handed batsman who bowled leg breaks and googlies, he played first-class cricket on 36 occasions for Warwickshire between 1970 and 1974, taking 81 wickets at 34.25 with a best of 5 for 24. He played just one List A match against Middlesex in the 1970 John Player League.
