Tidings (Allison Crowe Album)
''Tidings'' is the third studio album by Allison Crowe, released in 2003 in EP form and expanded to full-album length in 2004. Recorded live-off-the-floor, it is primarily an album of traditional songs of the season and Christmas carols alongside cover versions of some of Crowe's favourite songs of spirituality and redemption. This collection includes several songs by fellow Canadian songwriters, along with international writers. Among these is a single/first take recording of Leonard Cohen's ''Hallelujah'' that is the best known of the artist's numerous acclaimed song interpretations. It has been commented upon extensively in print and broadcast media, including a November 2008 BBC radio documentary, "''The Fourth, The Fifth, The Minor Fall''". Crowe's recording of ''Hallelujah'' was selected as the soundtrack accompaniment to a love scene in The Watchmen, before being replaced by Cohen's own live version. Allison Louise Crowe (born November 16, 1981) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, guitarist, and pianist born in Nanaimo, British Columbia, whose home is Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador. History Crowe began performing professionally in 1996 at the age of fifteen, doing regular sets in coffee-houses and bars of Vancouver Island. Her recording debut came in 2003 with the EP '' Lisa's Song + 6 Songs'', the title track composed in memory of Crow's friend, Lisa Marie Young, the victim in a notorious missing persons case. The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. O Holy Night
"O Holy Night" (original title: ) is a well-known sacred song for Christmas performance. Originally based on a French-language poem by poet Placide Cappeau, written in 1843, with the first line (Midnight, Christian, is the solemn hour) that composer Adolphe Adam set to music in 1847.
