Tian Wei
Tian Wei (; born February 1959) is a Chinese surgeon and professor and doctoral supervisor at Peking University and Tsinghua University. He is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and serves as the president and deputy party chief of Beijing Jishuitan Hospital. Biography Tian was born in February 1959. After graduating from Peking University Health Science Center in 1983, he became a surgeon at Beijing Jishuitan Hospital. In 1989 he pursued advanced studies in Japan, earning a doctor's degree from Hirosaki University in 1994. Then He carried out postdoctoral research at the university. He returned to China in 1995 and that same year became vice-president of Beijing Jishuitan Hospital. He founded spinal surgery for the hospital and served as its director. He has been president of the hospital since 2003. Tian (surname)
Tián (), or T'ien in Wade-Giles is a Chinese surname. An alternative transliteration of "田" from Cantonese is Tin, from Hokkien is Thinn. It appeared in the ''Hundred Family Surnames'' text from the early Song Dynasty. It also means "field". In 2019 it was the 34th most common surname in Mainland China. The same character is Jeon in Korean hanja and is 16th most common in South Korea. Origins * perhaps from a fief called Tian (田), which in Old Chinese is pronounced similar to (陳) in Qi state, which was granted to Chen Wan (陳完), a Prince in the State of Chen, who fled to Qi in order to escape persecution. Peking University Health Science Center is the medical school of Peking University, which has 14 affiliated hospitals in Beijing, China. It was formerly the independent Beijing Medical University. History It was first established in 1902 as the Medical branch of Imperial College of Peking (later on became Peking University).
