Thuringowa State High School is a high school located in Australia and specifically situated in the City of Townsville, North Queensland in the suburb of Condon. Thuringowa High opened in 1987 with year 8, 9 and 11 students, and offers programs in sport, cultural achievement, the Theatre Restaurant (Thuringowa high school was State finalist in the inaugural Showcase Awards) and Vocational education, amongst others. Kelso is a suburb in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. In the , Kelso had a population of 10,599 people. Geography Kelso is the last of three suburbs along Riverway Drive and is the only suburb on Riverway Drive that has homes backing onto the '' Ross River''. Garbutt–Upper Ross Road (Riverway Drive) runs from north to south inside the eastern boundary. Kirwan is a suburb in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. In the , Kirwan had a population of 21,418 people. Geography Kirwan is a primarily residential suburb but includes some commercial property, primarily concentrated along Thuringowa Drive. History The suburb of Kirwan was established in 1968 as the northernmost of a series of new suburbs along the western side of the Upper Ross River. The City of Thuringowa () was a city and local government area in North Queensland, Australia covering the northern and western parts of what is now Townsville. The suburb of Thuringowa Central is the main business centre in this area. Thuringowa was named after the German state of Thuringia where the shire's first chairman, John von Stieglitz, originated. Prior to its proclamation as a city on 1 January 1986, Thuringowa was a large rural shire, almost surrounding the City of Townsville.
