Thunerseespiele
The Thunerseespiele are open-air musical productions during summer located at Thun, the main city of the famous Bernese Oberland, in Switzerland. Every year internationally-famous productions are staged. The location is at the shoreline of Lake Thun (Thunersee). The stage is temporarily built every year over the water, especially for this production. The stage orientation allows the audience to see one of the most famous mountain panoramas with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountain peaks rising over Switzerland in the background. Several eating areas provide an amenable atmosphere to spending summer nights in this area. Jeremias Gotthelf
Albert Bitzius (4 October 179722 October 1854) was a Swiss novelist; best known by his pen name of Jeremias Gotthelf. Biography Bitzius was born at Murten, where his father was pastor. The Bitzius family had once belonged to the Bernese patriciate, but was known for its craftsmen and pastors since the 17th century. In 1804, the family home was moved to Utzenstorf, a village in the Bernese Emmental. Here young Bitzius grew up, receiving his early education and consorting with the boys of the village, as well as helping his father to cultivate his glebe. In 1812 he went to complete his education at Bern. He was a founding member of the Student Society Zofingia, the second-oldest fraternity in Switzerland (founded in 1819). Switzerland was represented by Peter, Sue and Marc with the song "Io senza te" at the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 4 April. The group were the winners of the Swiss national final for the 1981 contest, held on 21 February. Before Eurovision Concours Eurovision 1981 Swiss French broadcaster TSR was in charge of broadcasting the selection for the Swiss entry for the 1981 Contest.
