"Thunder Island" is a song by American musician Jay Ferguson. It is the title track and lead single from the 1977 album of the same name. The song peaked at No. 9 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 the week of April 1, 1978. The recording features Joe Walsh on guitar. In Canada, it reached No. 8. As "Thunder Island" was Ferguson's highest-ranking song on the charts, he is sometimes tagged a one-hit wonder. John Arden "Jay" Ferguson (born May 10, 1947) is an American rock music, rock and pop music, pop musician known for his work with the bands Spirit (band), Spirit and Jo Jo Gunne, and his 1978 solo hit "Thunder Island (song), Thunder Island". His later career has been as a composer of music for television programs and films. Many people know Ferguson for composing the theme song for the American version of ''The Office (American TV series), The Office'' on NBC.
