Thunder In The Valley (film)
''Thunder in the Valley'', sometimes known as ''Bob, Son of Battle'', is a 1947 American Drama Western film directed by Louis King and starring Lon McCallister, Peggy Ann Garner and Edmund Gwenn. It is based on the 1898 novel ''Owd Bob'' by Alfred Ollivant. It cost $1.9 million. Plot A story of the Scottish highhands about a crockerty old sheepherder, Adam MacAdam who loves his prize collie dog, but little else, not even his son Davis. But David, with the help of a neighbor's daughter, Maggie Moore, raises his own prize dog and beats out his father in a contest. Louis King
Louis King (June 28, 1898 – September 7, 1962) was an American actor and film director of westerns and adventure movies in the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. Citwf.com; accessed July 23, 2015. Biography King was born in Christiansburg, Virginia. His name was also written as L.H. King and Lewis King. A brother of director Henry King (director), Henry King, he entered the film business in 1919 as a character actor. He specialized in villains and blusterers. Reginald Owen
John Reginald Owen (5 August 1887 – 5 November 1972) was a British actor. He was known for his many roles in British and American films and television programs. Career The son of Joseph and Frances Owen, Reginald Owen studied at Sir Herbert Tree's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and made his professional debut in 1905. In 1911, he starred in the original production of ''Where the Rainbow Ends'' as Saint George, which opened to very good reviews on 21 December 1911. A few years earlier, Reginald Owen met the author Mrs. Clifford Mills as a young actor, and it was he who, on hearing her idea of a Rainbow Story, persuaded her to turn it into a play, and thus ''Where the Rainbow Ends'' was born. He co-authored the play with Mills using the pseudonym John Ramsey. He went to the United States in 1920 and worked originally on Broadway in New York City, and later moved to Hollywood, where he began a lengthy film career.
