''Thunder'' is a 1982 Japanese experimental short film directed by Takashi Ito. Shot on 16 mm film, ''Thunder'' makes use of long-exposure photography. Along with Ito's films ''Ghost'' (1984) and ''Grim'' (1985), ''Thunder'' has been noted for its ghostly imagery and ominous tone. Takashi Ito (director)
is a Japanese experimental filmmaker. Life and career As a child, Takashi Ito enjoyed drawing manga. Two years after graduating from high school, Ito enrolled at Kyushu University. Ito was taught by acclaimed Japanese filmmaker and visual artist Toshio Matsumoto. One of Ito's earliest film works is ''Noh'' (1977), which features photographs of Noh masks against different landscapes; ''Noh'' was particularly inspired by Matsumoto's 1975 film '' Ātman''. ''Noh'' was followed by a trilogy of short films—''Movement'' (1978), ''Movement 2'' (1979), and ''Movement 3'' (1980)—the third of which Ito described as a prototype for his 1981 film ''Spacy''. Ishikawa Prefectural Museum Of Art
, also known as IPMA, is the main art gallery of Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. It is one of Japan's many museums which are supported by a prefecture. The collection includes some of the prefecture's most important cultural assets and works by artists with some connection to the region. It is located in Kanazawa, Ishikawa within the grounds of the Kenrokuen Garden. The gallery was first opened in 1959. Time-lapse Photography
Time-lapse photography is a technique in which the frequency at which film frames are captured (the frame rate) is much lower than the frequency used to view the sequence. When played at normal speed, time appears to be moving faster and thus ''lapsing''. For example, an image of a scene may be captured at 1 frame per second but then played back at 30 frames per second; the result is an apparent ''30 times'' speed increase. Similarly, film can also be played at a much lower rate than at which it was captured, which slows down an otherwise fast action, as in slow motion or high-speed photography.
