Morten Thrane Esmark
Hans Morten Thrane Esmark (21 August 1801 – 24 April 1882) was a Norwegian priest and mineralogist. He is most noted for first locating the mineral thorite. Biography Morten Thrane Esmark was born at Kongsberg in Buskerud, Norway as a son of Professor Jens Esmark, a professor of mineralogy. His given name came from his maternal grandfather Danish zoologist and mineralogist, Morten Thrane Brünnich. Esmark took his theological exam in 1825 and first began his ministry as chaplain at Eidanger in Tromsø, Troms, Norway. He served as a parish priest for a period at Ramnes in Jarlsberg. He later served as vicar at Brevik in Telemark. Morten Thrane Esmark described several new minerals principally from Langesundsfjorden in Telemark. He commonly sent interesting specimens to his father, Jens Esmark, who was a professor of mineralogy and geology at the Royal Frederick University. Josephine Thrane
Josephine Thrane (née Buch; 5 April 1820 – 30 September 1862) was a Norwegian teacher and political activist. Maria Josephine Buch was born in the Bragernes neighborhood of Drammen, Norway. She was the daughter of Johann Herman Krefting Buch (1776–1838) and Johanne Frideriche Falster (1781–1828). In 1841, she was married to Marcus Thrane. They settled in Lillehammer where she had been working as a governess. From 1841 to 1846 they were running a private school for boys and girls. From 1854, she worked for the periodical ''Arbeider-Foreningernes Blad'', which her husband had started in 1849. Her husband was the leader of the first Norwegian labor movement. During the time, when her husband was imprisoned as a labor agitator (1855–1858), she worked hard to get him pardoned. She was also editor of ''Arbeider-Foreningernes Blad'' during this period. Marcus Thrane
Marcus Møller Thrane (14 October 1817 – 30 April 1890) was a Norwegian author, journalist, and the leader of the first labour movement in Norway. It was later known as the Thrane movement (''Thranebevegelsen''). Early life Thrane was born in Christiania, now Oslo, in 1817. Shortly after his birth, his father, a merchant and managing director in '' Norges Rigsbank'', was arrested for involvement in corruption, which devastated the family's reputation. At only 15, Thrane was orphaned and had to move in with friends of the family. In 1837, Thrane left Norway and traveled to France through Germany and Switzerland. Thrane stayed in Paris for several months before returning to Norway in December 1837. After finishing the examen artium (university admission exam) in 1840 and a brief period as a student of theology, Thrane and his new wife, Maria Josephine Buch, moved to Lillehammer in 1841, where they ran a private school. Mathias Thrane
Mathias Thrane (born 4 September 1993) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for HIK. Career Thrane joined AaB in the summer of 2014 from Hellerup IK. He got his Danish Superliga debut on 19 July 2014 against SønderjyskE when he was substituted in for Thomas Enevoldsen in the 75th minute. Thrane played two years in AaB before signing with the competitors from OB. On 4 February 2019, Nykøbing FC announced the signing of Thrane. He left the club in the summer 2020. After a spell at Faroese club B36 Tórshavn, Thrane returned to Denmark at the end of February 2022, when he signed for Næstved Boldklub Næstved Boldklub is a Danish association football team based in Næstved in the South of Zealand. Morten Thrane Brünnich
Morten Thrane Brünnich (30 September 1737 – 19 September 1827) was a Denmark, Danish zoologist and mineralogist. Biography Brünnich was born in Copenhagen, the son of a portrait Painting, painter. He studied oriental languages and theology, but soon became interested in natural history. He contributed his observations of insects to Erik Pontoppidan's ''Danske Atlas'' (1763–81). After being put in charge of the natural history collection of Christian Fleischer he became interested in ornithology, and in 1764 he published ''Ornithologia Borealis'', which included the details of many Scandinavian birds, some described for the first time. The publication of ''Ornithologia Borealis'' was aided by his insight in the collection. Brünnich corresponded with many foreign naturalists including Carl Linnaeus, Linnaeus, Peter Simon Pallas and Thomas Pennant. He published his ''Entomologia'' in 1764. Waldemar Thrane
Waldemar Thrane (8 October 1790 – 30 December 1828) was a Norwegian composer, violinist and conductor. Waldemar Thrane was born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was the son of Paul Thrane (1751–1830), a businessman and timber merchant, and was an uncle of the author and journalist Marcus Thrane. From 1814 to 1815, he studied music in Paris. In 1819, Thrane made his debut concert in Oslo as conductor, violinist and composer.
