Thorvald Heggem
Thorvald Heggem (November 13, 1907 – June 30, 1976) was a Norwegians, Norwegian Nordic combined skier and Cross-country skiing (sport), cross country skier. He won the bronze medal in Nordic combined skiing in the Norway Cup national skiing championship in 1936. Heggem was born in Rindal. In addition to his Norway Cup placing, Heggem also had a number of other good placings in the national championship and other major races. Among other achievements, he placed 5th in the combined, 6th in the 30 km, and 7th in the 17 km in the 1937 Norway Cup national skiing championship. At the Holmenkollen Ski Festival he was 5th in the combined in 1935 and 6th in 1938, and he took 5th in the 17 km in 1933. Norwegians
Norwegians ( no, nordmenn) are a North Germanic ethnic group and nation native to Norway, where they form the vast majority of the population. Nordic Combined
Nordic combined is a winter sport in which athletes compete in cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skiing and ski jumping. The Nordic combined at the Winter Olympics has been held since the first ever 1924 Winter Olympics, Winter Olympics in 1924, while the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup has been held since 1983. Competitive cross-country skiing encompasses a variety of race formats and course lengths. Rules of cross-country skiing are sanctioned by the International Ski Federation and by various national organizations. International competitions include the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, and at the Winter Olympic Games. Such races occur over homologated, groomed courses designed to support classic (in-track) and freestyle events, where the skiers may employ skate skiing. Rindal is a municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is part of the Orkdalen region. The administrative centre is the village of Rindal. Holmenkollen Ski Festival
The Holmenkollen Ski Festival ( no, Holmenkollen skifestival or ) is a traditional annual Nordic skiing event in Holmenkollen, Oslo, Norway. The full official name of the event is Holmenkollen FIS World Cup Nordic. History It takes place in March and has been arranged every year since 1892, except for 1898 and during World War II (1941–1945). The event is arranged by Skiforeningen and takes place at Holmenkollen National Arena and ski jumping hills Holmenkollbakken and Midtstubakken. In 2009 Holmenkollen was under renovation and replacement races were held in Trondheim for cross-country skiing and biathlon, and in Vikersund for ski jumping and nordic combined. Gråkallen
Gråkallen is a mountain in the Bymarka area in the municipality of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. The tall mountain is located in the Byåsen part of the city of Trondheim. The summit is covered by an abandoned fenced military installation. Below the summit (on the col to the right of the summit above the lake) there is a ski station accessible by bus from Trondheim. Orkanger IF
Orkanger Idrettsforening is a Norwegian sports club from Orkanger, Sør-Trøndelag. It has sections for association football, team handball, track and field, orienteering, Nordic skiing, swimming, gymnastics, powerlifting and dancing. It was founded on 1 January 1901. On 12 September 1947 it incorporated the clubs Orkanger TF and IL Njardar. In 1953 it lacked sections for handball, swimming, powerlifting and dancing, but had a section for speed skating. Jan Tore Ophaug started his career here. The club was coached by Harald Sunde (playing coach) from 1975 to 1977 and Roger Albertsen from 1989 to 1992. Løkken Idrettsforening is a Norwegian sports club from Løkken Verk, Sør-Trøndelag. It has sections for association football, speed skating and Nordic skiing. It was founded on 21 November 1896 as ''Meldalskogen SL''. The name was changed to ''Løkken IL'' on 30 March 1898. The name was changed to ''Løkken IF'' on 26 July 1947 as two clubs merged with Løkken IL. One club was ''IF Thor'', founded in 1918 and incorporating the short-lived ''Løkken AIL'' (1924–1926).
