Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic
The Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic was a women's professional golf tournament in Wisconsin on the LPGA Tour. It debuted in 2017 and was played at Thornberry Creek at Oneida, just northwest of Green Bay. Opened in 1994, the course is owned by the Oneida Nation. On August 21, 2019, the Oneida Nation announced that due to the lack of return on the investment to run the event they were not going to renew their contract with the LPGA to continue the tournament. Oneida, Wisconsin
Oneida is an unincorporated community and former census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Oneida, Outagamie County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,070 at the 2000 census. At the census, part of the CDP lay within the Town of Hobart, which has since incorporated as a village, in adjacent Brown County. Oneida is located on Wisconsin Highway 54. The community lies near the center of the reservation of the federally recognized Oneida Nation of Wisconsin, for which it is named. Geography Oneida is located at (44.496192, -88.188278). Oneida Nation Of Wisconsin
The Oneida Nation is a federally recognized tribe of Oneida people in Wisconsin. The tribe's Indian reservation, reservation spans parts of two counties west of the Green Bay, Wisconsin, Green Bay metropolitan area. The reservation was established by treaty in 1838, and was allotted to individual New York Oneida tribal members as part of an agreement with the U.S. government. The land was individually owned until the tribe was formed under the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934. Under the Dawes Act, the land was allotted in 1892 to individual households. The nation kept control of most of the land until sales were allowed in the early 20th century, when members were often tricked out of their property.
