Thorkel Amundason, also known as Thorkel Fóstri (Thorkel the Fosterer), was an Orcadian man, foster father of Thorfinn the Mighty, and killer of Earl Einar Sigurdsson. Early life Thorkel was born to one of the most rich and powerful men on Orkney, Amunde. Amunde was respected amongst many on the islands. Thorkel gained prominence by attempting to intervene with Earl Einar Sigurdsson on behalf of farmers, risking his life. He risked it again when he collected tribute from the Orcadians on behalf of Thorfinn Sigurdsson. Under Einar One spring, Earl Einar proclaimed a levy for an expedition. Orcadian landowners, who were unhappy with this, asked Amunde to intercede with the Earl for him. Amunde replied, saying that the earl was stubborn and not one to be entreatied by others. Einar Sigurdsson
Einar Sigurdsson (died 1020), also called Einarr rangmunnr Sigurðarson or Einar Wry-Mouth, was a son of Sigurd Hlodvirsson. He was jointly Earl of Orkney from 1014. His life is recorded in the '' Orkneyinga Saga''. When Earl Sigurd was killed at the Battle of Clontarf, he left four sons: Einar, Brusi, Sumarlidi, and Thorfinn. Thorfinn was only a child, whereas his three brothers were grown men, so the Earldom was divided between the three older brothers. Thorfinn, the only child by his fathers union with the daughter of Malcolm II of Scotland, was appointed to be titular ruler of the Mormaerdom of Caithness by his grandfather. Thorfinn Sigurdsson (1009?– 1065), also known as Thorfinn the Mighty (Old Norse: ''Þorfinnr inn riki''), was an 11th-century Jarl of Orkney. He was the youngest of five sons of Jarl Sigurd Hlodvirsson and the only one resulting from Sigurd's marriage to a daughter of Malcolm II of Scotland. Thing (assembly)
A thing, german: ding, ang, þing, enm, thing. Olaf II Of Norway
Olaf II Haraldsson ( – 29 July 1030), later known as Saint Olaf (and traditionally as St. Olave), was King of Norway from 1015 to 1028. Son of Harald Grenske, a petty king in Vestfold, Norway, he was posthumously given the title '' Rex Perpetuus Norvegiae'' ( en, Eternal/Perpetual King of Norway) and canonised at Nidaros (Trondheim) by Bishop Grimkell, one year after his death in the Battle of Stiklestad on 29 July 1030.
