Thongchai Tor. Silachai
Thongchai Tor.Silachai (ธงชัย ต.ศิลาชัย) is a retired Thai Muay Thai fighter. He is a former four-time Lumpinee Stadium champion and is the only fighter to have ever knocked out Muay Thai legend Saenchai. Biography Thongchai was born in Chakkarat, Nakhon Ratchasima. He started boxing at the age of 10. He trained at the famous Tor.Silachai gym for his entire career, under the great Medprik Tor.Silachai, a former Lumpinee Stadium Champion in the 1960s, and owner of the camp. Thongchai fought under legendary promoter Songchai Rattanasuban's OneSongchai promotion for his entire stadium career, totaling well over 20 years. Chakkarat District
Chakkarat (, ) is a district (''amphoe'') in the eastern part of Nakhon Ratchasima province, northeastern Thailand. History In 1927 Tha Chang village was upgraded to a minor district (''king amphoe'') of Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima district. It was upgraded to a full district in 1953, and at the same time renamed from Tha Chang to Chakkarat. The district office was moved to Ban Talat Chakkarat in 1964. Anuwat Kaewsamrit (อนุวัฒน์ แก้วสัมฤทธิ์) born November 17, 1981 is a Thai Muay Thai kickboxer and a former Lumpinee and four time Rajadamnern Stadium champion who used to fight out of Kaewsamrit Gym in Bangkok. Anuwat is known for his powerful hands, he's often referred to as “The Iron Hands of Siam”. Now, he is currently the head coach of Impax Academy Thailand. World Muaythai Council
The World Muaythai Council (WMC) is one of the oldest and the largest professional sanctioning organizations of Muaythai in the world for the sport. The organization was set up in 1995 by parliament resolution, and is incorporated by the Royal Thai Government and sanctioned by the Sports Authority of Thailand, under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. The council has been charged with the responsibility for the expansion of Muaythai worldwide. This involves supporting youth interest and athletes to learn the skills of Muaythai. Rajadamnern Stadium ( th, สนามมวยราชดำเนิน; ), also spelled ''Ratchadamnoen'', is a sporting arena in Bangkok, Thailand. Along with Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Rajadamnern is one of the two main stadiums for modern muay Thai. It hosts fights every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. The stadium has its own ranking system and championship titles up to middleweight (160 lbs). History In 1941, the prime minister of Thailand, Field Marshal Plaek Phibunsongkhram, gave orders to build a national boxing stadium on Rajadamnern Avenue. Lumpinee Boxing Stadium
Lumpinee Boxing Stadium ( th, สนามเวทีมวยลุมพินี) is a sporting arena in Bangkok, Thailand. The stadium is named after Lumbini, the birthplace of the Buddha. Opened more than a decade later than Rajadamnern Stadium, Lumpinee is run by the Royal Thai Army. It has become the symbol of modern Muay Thai. Only Rajadamnern Stadium rivals the prestige of holding the title of "Muay Thai Champion of Lumpinee". The ranking system and championship titles are held from mini flyweight (105 lb) up to super welterweight (154 lb). Muay Thai bouts are held on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Biography and career Somkid Crearone was born in the Buriram province where his father, a former fighter, initiated him to Muay Thai.
