Thomasville Dodgers
Thomasville, Georgia was home to several minor league baseball teams from 1913 to 1963, most of them in the Georgia–Florida League. History The Thomasville Hornets played from 1913 to 1915 in the Empire State League, Georgia–Florida League and Florida–Alabama–Georgia League. Baseball did not return until the Thomasville Orioles arrived in 1935 in the Georgia–Florida League as an affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles of the International League. They became an independent team in 1940 as the Thomasville Tourists and then the Thomasville Lookouts in 1941. After a shutdown for World War II, the team returned as a Detroit Tigers affiliate called the Thomasville Tigers, which played from 1946 to 1950. The Americus Rebels moved to Thomasville for the 1952 season and were renamed as the Thomasville Tomcats. They became a Brooklyn Dodgers affiliate and changed the team name to the Thomasville Dodgers in 1953. They continued in this manner until the league folded in 1958. ...

Thomasville is the county seat of Thomas County, Georgia, United States. The population was 18,413 at the 2010 United States Census, making it the second largest city in southwest Georgia after Albany, Georgia, Albany. The city deems itself the "City of Roses" and holds an annual Rose Festival. The city features plantations open to the public, a historic downtown, a large farmer's market, and The Big Oak, an oak tree from about 1680 at the corner of Monroe and Crawford streets. Frank Lary
Frank Strong Lary (April 10, 1930 – December 13, 2017) was a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers (–), New York Mets (1964, ), Milwaukee Braves (1964), and Chicago White Sox (1965). He led the American League with 21 wins in 1956 and ranked second in the same category with 23 wins in 1961. Lary was selected to the American League All-Star team in 1960 and 1961 and won the Gold Glove Award in 1961. He was known variously as "Taters", "Mule", and the "Yankee Killer." The latter nickname was won due to his 27–10 record against the New York Yankees from 1955 to 1961. Early years Lary was born in Northport, Alabama, in April 1930 as the sixth of seven children in the family. Thomas County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census the population was 44,720. The county seat is Thomasville. Thomas County comprises the Thomasville, GA Micropolitan Statistical Area. Harold Patrick Reiser (March 17, 1919 – October 25, 1981), nicknamed "Pistol Pete", was an American professional baseball outfielder and coach, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB), during the 1940s and early 1950s. While known primarily for his time with the Brooklyn Dodgers, Reiser later played for the Boston Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Cleveland Indians. Richard Benjamin Reese (born September 29, 1941) is an American former professional baseball player who played first base and outfield in the major leagues from through for the Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers.
