Thomas Tidswell
Thomas Tidswell was an Australian architect, notable for his design of sporting facilities in Sydney. Birth and education Tidswell was born in Sydney, the sixth of nine children of hotelier Frederick Squire Tidswell (1831–1898) and his wife Mary Ann (1836–1912). The fourth child of the Tidswell family, Thomas Francis (1864–1866), had died in a tragic accident in front of his parents' hotel in Devonshire Street, Sydney, and the fifth and sixth children were named in his honour: Frank Tidswell (1867 – 1941) and Thomas Tidswell (1870–1950). He lived in rural New South Wales until his parents bought Nugal Hall in Randwick, New South Wales. Tidswell attended Newington College (1881–1886). Arthur Beckford Polin
Arthur Beckford Polin (23 April 1872 - 21 September 1961) was an Australian architect who practiced in New South Wales and Queensland. Birth and education Polin was born in Newcastle, New South Wales the first son of Elizabeth Rook and Peter Aloysius Polin. He grew up in Coonamble and was educated at Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview, in Sydney. Following school he served his articles with Messrs Tappin and Dennehy, well known ecclesiastical architects. Following study at Sydney Technical College he was employed by John Kirkpatrick, eminent city architect. Architectural career Early in his career Polin entered into partnership with Thomas Tidswell (1870–1950). One of the firm's early works was the design of the Mechanics Institute in Coonamble in rural NSW. Stanmore, New South Wales
Stanmore is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, in New South Wales, Australia 6 kilometres south west of the Sydney central business district. It is part of the local government area of the Inner West Council. It is known for its long strip of shops running along Parramatta Road (Great Western Highway). Land in the present Stanmore area was first allocated to colonial officers by Governor Arthur Phillip between 1793 and 1810. Deniliquin () is a town in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia, close to the border with Victoria. It is the largest town in the Edward River Council local government area. Roseville is a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia north-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government areas of Ku-ring-gai and Willoughby.
