Thomas J
Clarence Thomas (born June 23, 1948) is an American jurist who serves as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. He was nominated by President George H. W. Bush to succeed Thurgood Marshall and has served since 1991. After Marshall, Thomas is the second African American to serve on the Court and its longest-serving member since Anthony Kennedy's retirement in 2018. Thomas was born in Pin Point, Georgia. After his father abandoned the family, he was raised by his grandfather in a poor Gullah community near Savannah. Growing up as a devout Catholic, Thomas originally intended to be a priest in the Catholic Church but was frustrated over the church's insufficient attempts to combat racism. Thomas Joseph Riley (November 30, 1900 – August 17, 1977) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Boston from 1959 to 1976. Biography Thomas Riley was born in Waltham, Massachusetts, to Thomas and Agatha (née Loughry) Riley. Following his graduation from Boston College in 1922, he studied at St. John's Seminary in Brighton. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 20, 1927. Riley served as a curate at St. Joseph's Church in Roxbury (1929–31) and earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Catholic University of Louvain in 1933. He taught philosophy and moral theology at St. John's Seminary for eleven years, then serving as vice-rector (1944–51) and rector (1951–58) of the seminary. Thomas Riley was an Irish-born Corporal in the United States Army who earned the Medal of Honor for gallantry during the American Civil War. On 4 April 1865, Riley captured the flag of the 6th Alabama Cavalry. For this action, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on 8 June 1865. Military service Riley enlisted in New Orleans served with Company D of the 1st Louisiana Cavalry Regiment. Tom Riley (born 5 April 1981) is an English actor, producer and director. Riley was born in Maidstone, Kent. He became involved in drama in his hometown at the age of four, and spent his school years writing and directing plays. He attended Maidstone Grammar School. He studied English literature and drama at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 2002 with first class honours. Early life Riley was born in Maidstone, Kent, England. Tom Riley (January 9, 1929 – July 21, 2011) was an American lawyer from Cedar Rapids, Iowa who served two terms in the Iowa House of Representatives and four in the Iowa Senate. Background Riley was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on January 9, 1929 to Joseph W. Riley and Edna Kyle Riley. He graduated from Franklin High School in Cedar Rapids in 1946, then earned a B.A. and Juris Doctor degrees at the University of Iowa in 1950 and 1952 respectively. Tom Riley (born 4 May 1985 in Graig, Pontypridd, Wales) is a rugby union player who plays at centre for the Cornish Pirates.
