Thomas Palmer (Florida Politician)
Thomas Palmer (1859–1946) was an American lawyer, developer, and politician in Florida representing Tampa. He served in the Florida Senate including as President of the Florida Senate. Biography Thomas Palmer was born in Washington County, Georgia in 1859. He earned a law degree from the University of Virginia in 1888. He moved to Tampa in 1889, and shortly afterward was elected mayor of Brooksville, Florida. He married Ruby Brooks in April 1899. He was a state senator in 1896 and 1897. In 1901, he represented Tampa and the 11th District. He proposed stone tablets dating to Spanish occupation in Florida be incorporated into an expansion of the Florida State Capitol. The tablets and the owner's home furnishings were acquired instead by Henry Flagler. A lawyer and developer, he was involved in the development of the Palma Ceia neighborhood of Tampa. Tony Andruzzi (born May 22, 1925 in Cheyenne, Wyoming – died December 22, 1991 in Chicago, Illinois) was the name adopted by professional magician Tom S. Palmer from the age of 45 to the end of his life. Changing Names Born to Fay and Tom McGuire, the child was first christened as Timothy McGuire on July 22, 1925. But after Tom McGuire left Fay to raise the boy alone, Fay allowed Charles and Gertie Palmer to adopt the boy. He was rechristened Tom Stewart Palmer on March 29, 1926. His biological mother maintained a friendly relationship with the Palmer family, though did not divulge the nature of her relationship to Tom until his teens. Totally Tom are a British comedy duo consisting of Tom Stourton and Tom Palmer. Background Stourton and Palmer first met as housemates at Eton College. Their public school education became a major subject in their comedy and spoofs about the perceived "posh" stereotypes associated with those educated at British public schools. Thomas John Palmer (July 13, 1941 – August 18, 2022) was an American comic book artist best known as an inker for Marvel Comics. Biography Although Tom Palmer created a small amount of penciling work (as well as some cover art and some coloring), the vast majority of his artistic output since the 1960s was as a comic book inker. Reminiscing about how he came to be an inker, Palmer recounted: Palmer's extensive work for Marvel Comics includes runs paired with pencilers Neal Adams on '' The Avengers'' and ''Uncanny X-Men''; Gene Colan, on titles such as ''Doctor Strange'', '' Daredevil'', and ''Tomb of Dracula''; and John Buscema, on ''The Avengers''. Anthony Pipolo, known professionally as Tom Palmer was an Italian-American animator and short film director who was active in the 1930s and worked at several animation studios. He was born with the surname of "Pipolo" but changed his name to Palmer. One of his brothers, Frank Pipolo, was a decorated New York City police officer. Career Born in New York City, Palmer's first animation credits occurred at the Winkler Studio in 1928 which made Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoons. Palmer moved over to Universal Pictures cartoon studio run by Walter Lantz which took over the Oswald series in 1929. By the early 1930s, he was working at Walt Disney Productions. He was lured by Leon Schlesinger to work as an animation director at his newly formed Leon Schlesinger Productions animation studio which made cartoons for Warner Bros. Thomas Fyshe Palmer
Thomas Fyshe Palmer (1747–1802) was an English Unitarian minister, political reformer and convict. Early life Palmer was born in Ickwell, Bedfordshire, England, the son of Henry Fyshe who assumed the added name of Palmer because of an inheritance, and Elizabeth, daughter of James Ingram of Barnet. Palmer was educated at Eton College and Queens' College, Cambridge from 1765, with the purpose of taking holy orders in the Church of England. He graduated B.A. in 1769, M.A. in 1772, and BD in 1781. He obtained a fellowship of Queens' in 1781, and officiated for a year as curate at Leatherhead, Surrey. While at Leatherhead he was introduced to Samuel Johnson, and dined with him in London; but he had become disillusioned with some aspects of the Church of England. Unitarian Palmer then read in Joseph Priestley's works, and became a Unitarian. For the next ten years Palmer preached Unitarianism to congregations in Dundee and other Scottish towns.
