Thomas Paget, 3rd Baron Paget (c. 1544 – 1590) was an English peer, the second son of William Paget, 1st Baron Paget. He succeeded to the barony in 1568 at the death of his elder brother, Henry Paget, 2nd Baron Paget. Family Thomas Paget, born about 1544, was the second son of William Paget, 1st Baron Paget, and Anne Preston (d. 1587), the daughter of Henry Preston. Thomas Paget (Puritan Minister)
Thomas Paget (born ''circa'' 1587-died October 1660) was an English Puritan clergyman, controversialist and theologian, committed to a Presbyterian church order. As a minister in Manchester, he was an early opponent of Laudian ceremonies in the Church of England. He served the English Reformed Church, Amsterdam, and later at Shrewsbury was a strong supporter of the regicide and of the republican Commonwealth of England. He spent his final year as rector of Stockport. Origins Thomas Paget was the younger brother of the Puritan minister and writer John Paget. They are said to have belonged to the Paget family of Rothley, a village on the edge of Charnwood Forest in Leicestershire. Their parents are unknown and it is impossible to be sure that Rothley was their place of birth. Thomas was admitted to the University of Cambridge in 1605, suggesting a birth date around 1587. Thomas Catesby Paget or Pagett (1689 – 4 February 1742) styled Hon. Thomas Catesby Paget from 1712 to 1714, and subsequently with the courtesy title Lord Paget, was an English writer and politician, who sat in the House of Commons from 1715 to 1727. He served in the household of King George II. Early life Paget was born in 1689, the son of Hon. Henry Paget, later Earl of Uxbridge, and his wife Mary Catesby, daughter of Thomas Catesby of Whiston, Northamptonshire. He was admitted at Clare College, Cambridge on 20 April 1705 and matriculated at Trinity College, Oxford on 19 April 1707 aged 18. His father was much concerned in 1710 to gain Paget's release when he was captured by French forces during the War of the Spanish Succession, as he tried to make his way in southern Germany to Italy. Brigadier-General Thomas Paget (died 28 May 1741) was a British Army officer and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1722 to 1727. He was the ancestor of the Paget family, Marquesses of Anglesey. Biography Paget was the only surviving son of the Hon. Thomas Paget (30 December 1778 – 25 November 1862) was a banker and Whig politician in England. He was born the only son of banker Thomas Paget of Ibstock, Leicestershire and founded the bank of Paget and Kirby in 1825, of which he was senior partner until his death. He was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Leicestershire in 1831, holding the seat until the constituency was divided at the 1832 general election. He was made Mayor of Leicester for 1836–37. Thomas Tertius Paget JP, DL (27 December 1807 – 16 October 1892) was an English banker and Liberal Party politician. Paget was the eldest son of the banker and Whig politician Thomas Paget (1778–1862) and his wife Anne Pares. He was a partner in Leicester Bank and became a J. P. and a Deputy Lieutenant for Leicestershire and High Sheriff of Leicestershire in 1869. Paget was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Southern Division of Leicestershire at a by-election in November 1867, filling the vacancy caused by the death of the Conservative Party MP Charles William Packe. However, he was defeated at the 1868 general election, and was unsuccessful both at a further by-election in 1870 and at the 1874 general election. Major Thomas Guy Frederick Paget (29 July 1886 – 12 March 1952), was a British soldier and Conservative Party politician. Paget was the son of Thomas Guy Paget, of Ibstock, Leicestershire. His great-grandfather Thomas Paget, of Lubenham, was a banker and represented Leicestershire in Parliament while his great-uncle, also named Thomas Paget, represented Leicestershire South and Harborough. Paget sat as Member of Parliament for Bosworth from 1922 to 1923. During the 1922 general election campaign, Paget stood on an anti-German platform. Historians such as M.S.R. Kinnear have suggested that this position resonated with the Bosworth electorate. He gained 40.9% of the vote.
