Thomas P. Kelley
Thomas Patrick Kelley Jr. (6 April 1905 14 February 1982) was a Canadian writer notable for two books on the infamous Black Donnellys of Lucan, Ontario. Kelley was born in Hastings, Ontario, the son of Thomas Patrick Kelley Sr. (John Lawrence Monahon) and English-born Nellie Burgess. He journeyed with his father's medicine show until 1931, then boxed professionally. In 1937 he began his prolific pulp writing career, with a sale to Weird Tales. He wrote many stories for '' Uncanny Tales'', a Canadian pulp magazine. He was the author of some two-dozen paperback books, largely of the true-crime variety. Kelley claimed to be ‘king of the Canadian pulp writers’ and ‘the fastest author in the East’. He died in Toronto. Kelley claimed that when he began a novel he had no idea how it would end, and had used 30 pseudonyms. He is most noted for his account of the Donnelly tragedy in ''The Black Donnellys''. Harlequin Enterprises ULC (known simply as Harlequin) is a romance and women's fiction publisher founded in Winnipeg, Canada in 1949. From the 1960s, it grew into the largest publisher of romance fiction in the world. Based in Toronto, Canada since 1969, Harlequin was owned by the Torstar Corporation, the largest newspaper publisher in Canada, from 1981 to 2014. It was then purchased by News Corp and is now a division of HarperCollins. In 1971 Harlequin purchased the London-based publisher Mills & Boon Limited and began a global expansion program opening offices in Australia and major European markets such as Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Netherlands and Scandinavia. John Robert Colombo
John Robert Colombo, CM (born March 24, 1936) is a Canadian author, editor, and poet. He has published over 200 titles, including major anthologies and reference works. Early life Colombo was born in Kitchener, Ontario, in 1936. He attended the University of Toronto, where he began to organize literary events in the late 1950s. He began writing and publishing poetry in the early 1960s; his first book of poetry ''Lines for the Last Days'' was illustrated by William Kurelek.Morley, Patricia. Brother XII
Edward Arthur Wilson (25 July 1878 - 7 November 1934), better known as Brother XII, was an English mystic who, in the late 1920s, founded a spiritual community located just south of the city of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, off the west coast of British Columbia, Canada. Early life Wilson was born in Birmingham, England, into a religious family. He later claimed that during his childhood he was visited by angels. Career Wilson travelled the world as a mariner, first visiting Canada in 1905. He studied world religions, preparing himself, by his own account, for a destiny that was revealed to him in a vision in the South of France in the autumn of 1924. He soon attracted a devoted following, including a group of wealthy and socially prominent individuals. Having taken the name Brother XII, he established the Aquarian Foundation in 1927. A feud , referred to in more extreme cases as a blood feud, vendetta, faida, clan war, gang war, or private war, is a long-running argument or fight, often between social groups of people, especially families or clans. Feuds begin because one party perceives itself to have been attacked, insulted, injured, or otherwise wronged by another. Intense feelings of resentment trigger an initial retribution, which causes the other party to feel greatly aggrieved and vengeful. The dispute is subsequently fuelled by a long-running cycle of retaliatory violence. Hastings, Ontario
Hastings is a community within the municipality of Trent Hills, Northumberland County, in the province of Ontario, Canada. It is situated on the Trent-Severn Waterway and the Trans Canada Trail in what is considered to be Ontario's "cottage country". It can be reached from Highway 401 by exiting at exit 474 at Cobourg and going north on County Road 45. It can be reached from Highway 7 at the Norwood exit going south (also on County Road 45). Hastings had a population of 1,208 at the 2001 Census.
