Thomas Paterson Noble
Prof Thomas Paterson Noble FRCSE FRSE OWE (3 March 1887 – 16 December 1959) was a Scottish surgeon who served Prajadhipok, the King of Siam Life He was born in Galashiels on 3 March 1887 the son of Margaret Paterson and her husband Alexander Noble, a chemist. He studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh graduating with an MB ChB in 1911 and gaining his MD in 1913. He also studied at University College London and held resident posts at Leith, Greenwich, and Queen Charlotte's Hospital. In the First World War he served as a Lieutenant in the Royal Army Medical Corps. After the war he took a post at the Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry then in 1924 gained a Rockefeller Scholarship to the Mayo Clinic in America. From here (around 1925) he received an opportunity to work in what was then Siam (now Thailand) as Professor of Surgery at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. Thomas Satterwhite Noble
Thomas Satterwhite Noble (May 29, 1835 – April 27, 1907) was an American painter as well as the first head of the McMicken School of Design in Cincinnati, Ohio. Biography Noble was born in Lexington, Kentucky, and raised on a plantation where hemp and cotton were grown. He showed an interest and propensity for art at an early age. He first studied painting with Samuel Woodson Price in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1852 and then continued his studies with Price, Oliver Frazier and George P.A. Healey at Transylvania University in Lexington. In 1853 he moved to New York City before moving to Paris to study with Thomas Couture from 1856 to 1859. Noble then returned to the United States in 1859 intending on beginning his art career. However, with the beginning of the Civil War, as a Southerner, he served in the Confederate army from 1862 to 1865. After the war, Noble was paroled to St. Louis and began painting. Thomas Noble (1656 – 3 May 1730) was a British politician. Born around 1698, Noble was the eldest son of Thomas Noble of Rearsby, an alderman of Leicester. Noble married twice, firstly to Mary Harvey before 1693, with whom he had a son and a daughter. On 13 October 1702 he married Mary Keyt, daughter of Sir William Keyt, 2nd Baronet and sister of the 3rd baronet. The second marriage was childless. Noble died on 3 May 1730.
