Thomas Morris (August 30, 1897 – 1945) - accessed July 2010 was an American jazz cornetist. Thomas Morris (bishop)
Thomas Morris, D.D. KC*HS (16 October 1914 – 16 January 1997), was the Catholic Archbishop of Cashel and Emly in Ireland from 1959 to 1988. Biography Morris was born in Kilkennybeg, in parish of Killenaule, County Tipperary, and was educated first at Killenaule, and then by the Christian Brothers in Thurles. He entered St Patrick's College, Maynooth in September 1932 where he took a first class Honours degree in English in 1935 before embarking on theological studies. He was one of six Cashel and Emly students ordained to the priesthood on 18 June 1939 and proceeded to the Dunboyne Institute for postgraduate studies which culminated in a doctorate in theology in June 1941. He taught at Glenstal Abbey for a few months, moving to St. Patrick's College, Thurles, in January 1942, where he taught theology until 1960 when he became archbishop. Thomas Roosevelt Morris (1938 – November 6, 2010) was an American college football and college basketball coach. He served as the head football coach at Saint Paul's College in Lawrenceville, Virginia from 1966 to 1970, Virginia State University from 1977 to 1979, Fayetteville State University in 1980, and Morgan State University in 1981, compiling a career college football head coaching record of 33–54–5. Morris was also the head basketball coach at Saint Paul's from 1966 to 1971, tallying a mark of 44–66. A native of Newport News, Virginia, Morris attended Collis P. Huntington High School there, graduating in 1957. He played football and basketball at Saint Paul's before graduating in 1966. Thomas Charles Morris, often known as "Top Cat" Morris, was a Welsh trade unionist and socialist activist, who served on the National Executive Committee of the Labour Party. Born in Llanidloes, Morris began working as a railway signalman and joined the National Union of Railwaymen (NUR). He served as secretary of the union's Ystrad branch for eight years, and served on the union's executive council from 1916 until 1918, during which period the union secured a maximum eight-hour working day for railway staff. Morris was also active in the Labour Party, serving as president of the Rhondda Borough Labour Party for six years, president of the Pentre Trades and Labour Council for two years, and as editor of the ''Rhondda Socialist'' for two years. He stood unsuccessfully for the party in Reading at the 1918 United Kingdom general election, taking 29.8% of the vote and second place. Thomas Morris (c.1754–1832) was an English architect and engineer. In 1784 he supervised the building of a dock at Glasson, on the River Lune. In 1789 he became an engineer to Mersey Docks and Harbour Board, whilst at Liverpool, he was consulted regarding more docks at Glasson and completed Queens Dock. Thomas Morris (1732?–1808) was a British Army officer and writer. Early life Born at Carlisle, where he was baptised on 22 April 1732, he was one of four sons of Captain Thomas Morris, soldier author of the popular song ''Kitty Crowder'', who died about 1752. Charles Morris the songwriter and poet was his brother. Morris entered Winchester College as a scholar in 1741. After time in tuition in London, joined the 17th Foot, which was his father's regiment, at Kinsale, in 1748. In 1753 he took leave and spent time in Paris, giving him a command of the French language. American service In 1757 Morris shipped with his regiment for the Americas. Thomas Asbury Morris
Thomas Asbury Morris (28 April 1794 – 2 September 1874) was an American bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church, elected in 1836. He also distinguished himself as a Methodist Circuit rider, Pastor, and Presiding Elder, and as an Editor. Early life and family Thomas was born near Charleston (then in Virginia, now in West Virginia). He was the son of John and Margaret Morris, who settled on the Kanawha River about 1785. Thomas' early education was obtained in the common schools, later pursuing special studies in a school taught by a William Paine, an Englishman. Before reaching manhood Thomas served three years as an assistant in the office of his brother Edmund, who was County Clerk. At the age of eighteen, Thomas was drafted to serve a six-month term in the War of 1812. Thomas Baden Morris (30 April 1900 – 22 January 1986) was an English writer from Godstone, Surrey who as T. B. Morris and as Yves Cabrol wrote a large number of plays, popular with amateur theatre groups. As a prolific playwright (over a hundred one-act plays written) he has been compared with Philip Johnson (playwright) and David Campton, and has been remarked on for his stylistic breadth and variety of subject matter and cast requirements. His "Yves Cabrol" plays are comedies set in provincial France.
