Thomas McGrath (Irish Republican)
Thomas McGrath (9 January 1903 - 18 April 1923) was an IRA soldier who fought on the anti-Treaty side in the Irish Civil War in north Kerry. He drowned after trying to escape a siege by Irish Free State forces at Clashmealcon during what was the last major military action of the War. James McEnery (28 April 1892 – 25 April 1923) was a farmer and IRA soldier who fought on the anti-Treaty side in the Irish Civil War in north Kerry. He surrendered during a three-day siege by Free State forces, in the last significant action of the War, and was executed seven days later. A Teachta Dála ( , ; plural ), abbreviated as TD (plural ''TDanna'' in Irish, TDs in English), is a member of Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas (the Irish Parliament). Patrick Finucane (Irish Politician)
Patrick Finucane (5 December 1899 – 10 April 1984) was an Irish Clann na Talmhan politician who served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Kerry North constituency from 1943 to 1969. Born on a family farm at Prohus, Moyvane, County Kerry, he was the eldest of nine children. In 1917 he joined the Irish Volunteers and took part in the Irish War of Independence. Following the split on the Anglo-Irish Treaty, he took the anti-treaty side. He married and had a farm at Urlee, Lisselton. He was involved in farming organisations and in 1942 was elected to Kerry County Council. He was chosen to contest the 1943 general election by the Kerry Farmers' Association. and was elected as a TD for the Kerry North constituency. He subsequently joined Clann na Talmhan, sitting on the opposition benches. He was re-elected at the 1944 and 1948 general elections. Patrick O'Shea (c.1900 - 18 April 1923) was a farm labourer and IRA soldier who fought on the anti-Treaty side during the Irish Civil War in north Kerry. He died after falling from a cliff trying to escape from Irish Free State forces in a siege at Clashmealcon (Irish: ''Clais Maolchon'') in the last major military action of the civil war. He served with the IRA in the 3rd Battalion, 1st Kerry Brigade, under the command of Michael Laid and John McElligott. Ballymullen Barracks () is an Defence Forces (Ireland), Irish military installation at Tralee, County Kerry in Ireland. History The barracks were built for local militia units between 1810 and 1815. In 1873 a system of recruiting areas based on counties was instituted under the Cardwell Reforms and the barracks became the Regimental depot, depot for the 101st Regiment of Foot (Royal Bengal Fusiliers) and 104th Regiment of Foot (Bengal Fusiliers). Following the Childers Reforms, the 101st and 104th regiments amalgamated to form the Royal Munster Fusiliers with its depot in the barracks in 1881. The Royal Munster Fusiliers were disbanded at the time at the establishment of the Irish Free State in 1922. The barracks were taken over by the Irish Republican Army in February 1922 and then secured by the forces of the Free State in August 1922. Reginald Walter Stenning
Reginald Walter Stenning (aliases Reginald Stephen Hathaway, Walter Stephens and Richard Stenning) (26 February 1903 - 25 April 1923) was a British Army deserter who joined the Irish Republican Army (IRA), fighting on the anti-Treaty side in the Civil War. After being captured by Free State forces he was beaten and executed. Biography He was born at 96 Oldfield Road, Willesden, to Edith Annie (née Holton) and Walter Stevens Stenning, a librarian's assistant.
