Thomas Maddock (politician)
Thomas Maddock's Sons Company was founded by Thomas Maddock. History The firm was originally named 'Millington & Asthury, before Maddock joined it in 1872. It was subsequently renamed 'Millington, Astbury & Maddock the next year. When Millington left, it became Asthury & Maddock, before assuming the name Thomas Maddock & Sons upon the departure of Asthury. The plant is in Hamilton Township, New Jersey. It was built in 1924-25 and manufactured sanitary ware. Later it was purchased by American Standard in 1929 and production continued until 2002. The site lies adjacent to the Hamilton Train Station on the Northeast Corridor Line. It has been redeveloped as offices and is the centerpiece of transit-oriented development around the station. The building's original address was 240 Princeton Avenue but now lies on American Metro Boulevard. Thomas Maddock (April 1, 1818 – June 16, 1899) was an inventor and Pottery, potter. He invented devices that made plumbing fixtures more practical and started the American indoor toilet industry. Maddock was decorator for a set of White House tableware dishes for President Franklin Pierce. Early life Maddock was born in the Staffordshire area of England on April 1, 1818. He was the third child of nine in the family. William, the first child, died at an early age. His other siblings were: three brothers, John, William B., Henry; his four younger sisters were Sarah, Betsy, Mary and Jane. Maddock's father was Thomas Maddock, Sr. His mother was Mary Maddock (née Crompton). Hamilton is an NJ Transit station on the Northeast Corridor Line, in Hamilton Township, Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. Also at this station is the NJ Transit Hamilton Township bus garage. The station is at 600 Sloan Avenue, off exit 65B of Interstate 295. Hamilton Transit Center opened February 21, 1999 as an intermodal complex. It is next to a former American Standard factory that was redeveloped into an office building. Peak express trains make the trip to New York Penn Station in about an hour, while off-peak express trains take an hour and fifteen minutes. The Hamilton station received national media attention in 2019, when it was reported that commuters are regularly locked out of the station building on early mornings. Northeast Corridor Line
The Northeast Corridor Line is a commuter rail service operated by NJ Transit between the Trenton Transit Center and New York Penn Station on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor in the United States. The service is the successor to Pennsylvania Railroad commuter trains between Trenton and New York, and is NJ Transit's busiest commuter rail service. After arrival at New York Penn Station, some trains load passengers and return to New Jersey, while others continue east to Sunnyside Yard for storage.
