Thomas Knight (28 April 1935 – 24 October 2022) was an Australian politician who was a Liberal Party of Australia (Western Australian Division), Liberal Party member of the Western Australian Legislative Council, Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1974 to 1986, representing South Province (Western Australia), South Province. Knight was born in Albany, Western Australia, to Jean Elizabeth (née Nesbitt) and Frederick Knight. He attended Albany Senior High School, Western Australia, Albany High School, and after leaving school began working as a builder, eventually starting his own development company. Knight served on the City of Albany, Albany Town Council from 1964 to 1967, and became president of the local branch of the Liberal Party. He was Preselection, preselected for the Electoral district of Albany, seat of Albany at the 1968 Western Australian state election, 1968 state election, but withdrew his candidacy prior to the election. Thomas Knight (MP For Kent)
Thomas Knight (15 May 1735 – 23 October 1794) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons in two periods between 1761 and 1780. Knight was the son of Thomas Knight (previously known as Brodnax and May) of Godmersham and his wife Jane Monke. In 1761, Knight was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for New Romney and held the seat to 1768. In 1774 he was elected MP for Kent and held the seat until 1780. Knight succeeded to his father's estates in 1781, and greatly improved the seat and park of Godmersham. Knight died aged 59. Knight married Catherine Knatchbull, daughter of Dr. Wadham Knatchbull, prebendary of Durham. They had no children and by his will he gave Godmersham Park and the lands belonging to it, to his widow Mrs. Catherine Knight, for her life, with remainder to Edward Austen of Rolling Place. Thomas Knight (MP For Canterbury)
Thomas Knight (ca. 1701 – 26 February 1781) previously Thomas Brodnax (1701–1726) and Thomas May (1727–1738), of Godmersham Park, Kent, was an English landowner and Tory politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1734 to 1741. Early life Knight was the son of William Brodnax of Godmersham, Kent and his second wife Anne May, daughter of Christopher May of Greenwich. He matriculated at Balliol College, Oxford on 2 June 1720, aged 18. In 1726, he succeeded his father to the family estate at Godmersham. Also in 1726, he succeeded his cousin Dame Anne May to the May estates at Rawmere, Sussex and changed his name by a 1726 Act of Parliament to May. He married Jane Monke, daughter of William Monke of Buckingham House, Shoreham at Grey's Inn Chapel on 11 July 1729. In 1732 he rebuilt the house at Godmersham. He served as Sheriff of Kent for 1729. Thomas Knight (born 1865) was an English footballer who played for Wolverhampton Wanderers. One of the early stars of the Wolves side, Tommy Knight could play in any forward position, but preferred the inside–right berth. Strong and powerful, he loved to dribble, head down with the ball and occasionally upset his colleagues by doing this far too much! Born in Wolverhampton in 1865, Knight joined Wolves at the age of 20/21 in August 1886 from Pickwick. Thomas Knight (died 1820), actor and dramatist, was born in Dorset of a family of no great wealth. Early career He was intended for the legal profession, and received from Charles Macklin, the actor, lessons in elocution. A favourite with Macklin, he accompanied him to the theatre, acquiring in his visits tastes which led him to adopt the stage as a profession. At an unrecorded date he appeared at the Richmond Theatre in '' Charles Surface'', and failed conspicuously. He then joined Austin's company at Lancaster. Before leaving London he tried vainly to force upon Macklin a remuneration for his services as a teacher. Tate Wilkinson saw Knight, it is said, in Edinburgh, and engaged him for the York circuit. His first appearance was made in York in 1782 as Lothario to the Calista of Mrs Jordan.
