Thomas Read Kemp (23 December 1782 – 20 December 1844) was an English property developer and politician. Life He was the son of Sussex landowner and Member of Parliament Thomas Kemp, and his wife Anne, daughter of Henry Read of Brookland. The Kemp Baronetcy, of Gissing in the County of Norfolk, was a title in the Baronetage of England. It was created on 14 March 1642 for Robert Kemp. The second Baronet sat as member of parliament for Norfolk and Dunwich. The third Baronet was member of parliament for Dunwich and Suffolk. The fourth Baronet was member of parliament for Orford. The title became extinct on the death of the twelfth Baronet in 1936. Thomas Kemp (shipbuilder)
Thomas Kemp (28 February 1779 – 2 March 1824) was a Baltimore shipbuilder, known for building some of the fastest and best known privateers of the War of 1812, such as , , ''Patapsco'', ''Chasseur'', and '' Lynx''. Early Career as a Shipbuilder Thomas Kemp moved to Baltimore in 1803 from near Saint Michaels, Maryland on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He is thought to have learned at least some of his shipbuilding skills at the Dawson's wharf shipyard in St. Michaels. In 1804, he built a schooner with his brother Joseph. In the next few years his shipyard was mostly involved in making repairs to Baltimore vessels. He made some repairs for Isaac McKim on the schooner ''Maryland'', the brig ''Samuel'' and the ''Chesapeake,'' for Henry Craig on the ''Vigilante'' and the schooner ''Eclipse'' and for John Conway on the schooner ''Nonsuch''. Tom Kemp (1921–1993) was a prominent Marxist economic historian and political theorist. He was influential in socialist and Trotskyist parties in the UK, and published several influential books on Marxist theory and economic development, in particular Theories of Imperialism which made an important contribution to assimilating globalisation into Marxist theory. Early life Kemp was born in Wandsworth, London, to a working-class family. He gained a scholarship to the grammar school Emanuel School and during his school years Kemp became involved with the Young Communist League (UK) and Communist Party of Great Britain. He was thrown out of the school Cadet Force for distributing communist literature about the Spanish Civil War. In 1939 he enrolled at the London School of Economics, breaking his studies after a year to serve in the Royal Navy as a rating in landing craft, participating on his 21st birthday in the Bruneval Raid and subsequently the Dieppe Raid. Tommy Kemp (12 August 191526 November 2004) was a rugby union international who represented England from 1937 to 1948. He also captained his country. Early life Tommy Kemp was born on 12 August 1915 in Bolton. Rugby union career Kemp made his debut for England on 16 January 1937 at Twickenham when they played Wales. Of the five matches he played for his national side he was on the winning side on three occasions. He played his final match for England on 17 January 1948 at Twickenham when he again played Wales. Outside rugby Kemp qualified as a doctor at St Mary's Hospital Medical School.
