Thomas John Paprocki
Thomas John Joseph Paprocki (born August 5, 1952) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church who has been serving as bishop of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois since 2010. He previously served as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago from 2003 to 2010. Biography Early life The third of nine children, Thomas Paprocki was born August 5, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois; he has six brothers and two sisters. A lifelong fan of hockey—who is sometimes referred to in the media as the "Holy Goalie"—he began playing at a young age in the basement of his father's drugstore and supports the Chicago Blackhawks. St. Joseph College Seminary was a college of Loyola University Chicago and the college seminary of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago. In January 2019, Cardinal Blase J. Cupich of the Archdiocese announced that the seminary would close in June 2019. The seminary building was sold to Loyola University Chicago and now serves as one of the University's residence halls. Quigley Preparatory Seminary South was a Catholic high school administered by the Archdiocese of Chicago from 1961 through 1990. Quigley South was located at 7740 South Western Avenue on the South Side of Chicago. Quigley North and Quigley South were both named to honor James Edward Quigley, Archbishop of Chicago from 1903 to 1915.
