Thomas Insuk Hong
Thomas Insuk Hong (born July 2, 1997) is an American short track speed skater. He competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics. Early life and education Hong was born in Seoul, South Korea to parents Hang Jung and DooPyeo Hong. Hong immigrated to the United States as a child. He was raised in Laurel, Maryland and graduated from Atholton High School. He currently attends University of Maryland, College Park. Short-track speed skating is a form of competitive ice skating, ice speed skating. In competitions, multiple skaters (typically between four and six) skate on an oval ice track with a length of . The rink itself is long by wide, which is the same size as an Olympic-sized figure skating rink and an international-sized ice hockey rink. Related sports include long track speed skating and inline speed skating. History Short-track skating developed from speed skating events that were held with mass starts. This form of speed skating was mainly practised in the United States and Canada, as opposed to the international form, where athletes skated in pairs.
