Thomas Howard, 2nd Duke Of Norfolk
Thomas Howard, 2nd Duke of Norfolk (144321 May 1524), styled Earl of Surrey from 1483 to 1485 and again from 1489 to 1514, was an English nobleman, soldier and statesman who served four monarchs. He was the eldest son of John Howard, 1st Duke of Norfolk, by his first wife, Catharina de Moleyns. The Duke was the grandfather of both Queen Anne Boleyn and Queen Catherine Howard and the great-grandfather of Queen Elizabeth I. In 1513 he led the English to victory over the Scots at the decisive Battle of Flodden, for which he was richly rewarded by King Henry VIII, then away in France. Thomas Patrick Howard (13 March 1880 – 9 July 1949) was an Australian trade unionist and politician. He was a member of the South Australian House of Assembly from 1933 to 1938, representing the Lang Labor Party (1933), South Australian Lang Labor Party (1933–1934) and Labor Party (1934–1938). Howard was born in Gilbert Street, Adelaide, and educated at Christian Brothers College. He worked as a shop assistant in a warehouse before apprenticing as a painter and decorator in 1894, later working as a house painter. He became a delegate for the Labor Party in 1908, and was elected president of the Painters' Union in 1909. He became the union's assistant state secretary in 1913, and succeeded T. B. Merry as state secretary that December. He served as state secretary of the Painters and Decorators Union until 1934. Thomas Acheson "Attie" Howard (January 5, 1871 – November 18, 1945) was a Canadian amateur ice hockey player in the era before professional ice hockey. He was a member of the 1896 Winnipeg Victorias Stanley Cup championship team. He later played in the American Amateur Hockey League (AAHL) and in the Western Pennsylvania Hockey League (WPHL) in the United States of America. Playing and coaching career Tom Howard joined the Winnipeg Victorias in 1890 and during the 1890–91 season the team played non-league games against the city-rival Winnipeg Hockey Club. Thomas Ewington Howard (10 November 1888 – 1967) was an Australian professional golfer. He won the Australian Open (golf), Australian Open in 1923. Early life Howard was born on 10 November 1888 at Mascot, New South Wales, Mascot, Sydney, the second son of George and Madeline Howard. George was a gardener. Howard lost part of each index finger in a machinery accident at a rope factory. Amateur career Howard first came to notice in 1913. Thomas Charles Howard (19 July 1781 – 18 May 1864) was an English professional cricketer who played first-class cricket from 1803 to 1828. He was mainly associated with Hampshire sides but also played for Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), where he was employed as a ground staff bowler. Howard was a right-handed batsman and an occasional wicketkeeper but he was noted as a right arm fast medium bowler, using the underarm style. He made 88 known appearances in first-class cricket and is one of a handful of players who appeared for both teams in the Gentlemen v Players series.
