Thomas Hopkins (born 13 April 1984) is an American water polo player. He is 5'11” and 185 lbs. He is a member of the United States men's national water polo team and competed at the 2007 FINA Men's Water Polo World League. He studied at the Coronado High School. He played college water polo at Stanford University. Water Polo
Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom. A game consists mainly of the players swimming to move about the pool, treading water (mainly using the eggbeater kick), passing the ball, and shooting at the goal. Teamwork, tactical thinking and awareness are also highly important aspects. Water polo is a highly physical and demanding sport and has frequently been cited as one of the most difficult to play. 2005 NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship
The 2005 NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship was the 37th annual NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship to determine the national champion of NCAA men's collegiate water polo. Tournament matches were played at the Kinney Natatorium at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania from December 3–4, 2005. USC defeated Stanford in the final, 3–2, the game winning goal scored by Pavol Valovic, to win their third national title. The Trojans (26–1) were coached by Jovan Vavic. The ''Most Outstanding Players'' of the tournament were Adam Shilling and Juraj Zatovic from USC. Additionally, two ''All-Tournament Teams'' were named: a ''First Team'' (with seven players including Shilling and Zatovic) and a ''Second Team'' (with eight players).
