Thomas Holden (general)
Thomas Holden (June 7, 1741February 12, 1823) was a general in the American Revolutionary War and later a justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court. Holden was born in Warwick, Rhode Island, and was a farmer there. He joined Varnum's Regiment in 1775 as a captain and the following year served with the Rhode Island Brigade. Holden became a Rhode Island militia colonel in 1778 and fought in the Newport Campaign that year. He was elected to the Continental Congress in 1788 and 1789 and promoted to brigadier general in the militia in 1779 and to major general in 1790. Holden served as a justice of the state supreme court from 1797 until 1801. Early life Holden was born in Warwick, Rhode Island, on June 7, 1741, and was one of four children of John and Deliverance Greene Holden. Thomas Douglas Percy Holden (1 January 1859 – 31 December 1938) was an Australian politician who served as a Member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1912 to 1934 and also as an Alderman and Mayor of the Municipality of Redfern. The owner of a tobacconist and barber shop in Redfern, Holden spent most of his career associated with the Australian Labor Party. Early life and career He was born in Sydney to accountant Thomas Douglas Percy Holden and Mary Walsh. He ran a tobacconist and barber shop in Regent Street, Redfern. On 16 August 1898 he married Louisa Hodge, with whom he had three children. In 1899 he was commissioned as a Justice of the Peace. Thomas Sinclair Holden
Thomas Sinclair Holden (6 January 1906 – 23 December 1973) was an Australian politician and judge. He was born in Redfern to Thomas Douglas Percy Holden, also a politician. He attended Fort Street High School and in 1928 received a Bachelor of Law from the University of Sydney. He married Rose Scott Winden, with whom he had three children. From 1928 he practised as a solicitor, and was called to the bar in 1938. He specialised in workers' compensation.
