Thomas Holbrook
Thomas Holbrook (born 1949) is an Illinois politician who serves as the St. Clair County Clerk. He was appointed to replace Bob Delaney. Prior to this he served as Chairman of the Illinois Pollution Control Board from 2011 to 2013http://www.ipcb.state.il.us/AboutTheBoard/BoardMembers.asp and a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives representing the 113th District for eight terms from 1995 until 2011. A clerk is a senior official of many municipal governments in the English-speaking world. In some communities, including most in the United States, the position is elected, but in many others, the clerk is appointed to their post. In the UK, a Town or Parish clerk is appointed by the Town or Parish Council Members. In almost all cases, the actual title of the clerk reflects the type of municipality they work for, thus, instead of simply being known as the ''clerk'', the position is generally referred to as the town clerk, township clerk, city clerk, village clerk, borough clerk, board secretary, or county clerk. Belleville is a city and the county seat of St. Clair County, Illinois, coterminous with the now defunct Belleville Township. It is also the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Belleville and the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. The population was 44,478 according to the Census Bureau's 2010 data, making it the largest city in the state south of Springfield.
