Thomas Hawkes Tanner
Thomas Hawkes Tanner (9 July 1824 – 7 July 1871) was an English physician and medical writer. Life Tanner was the son of Thomas Tanner, secretary to the Army Medical Board. He received the greater part of his education at Charterhouse School. There he met with a serious accident, which affected his health for a number of years. Tanner began medical studies at King's College London, in 1843, and graduated at St. Andrews University as doctor of medicine in 1847. He then went into general practice in Charlotte Street in London, and was shortly afterwards elected physician to the Farringdon Street dispensary. He was enrolled a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1850, and set up in consulting practice. In 1851 Tanner was elected physician to the Hospital for Women in Soho Square, and concentrated on gynæcology, though also lecturing on forensic medicine at the medical school attached to Westminster Hospital. Alfred Meadows
Alfred Meadows (2 June 1833–18 April 1887) was an English obstetric physician. Biography Meadows was born at born at Ipswich on 2 June 1833. He was fourth child of Charles Meadows. A brother, Robert (1839–1887), obtained a distinguished position in China as a medical man. Alfred was educated at the grammar school, Ipswich, and later at King's College, London, of which he was first associate and afterwards fellow. He matriculated at the London University in 1853, and after serving as pupil to William Elliston of Ipswich, he entered, in October 1853, the King's College medical school, where he obtained many prizes. In 1856 he was admitted a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a licentiate of the Apothecaries' Hall. He also became a licentiate in midwifery of the Royal College of Surgeons. Tilbury Fox
William Tilbury Fox, MD, FRCP (1836 – 7 June 1879) was an English dermatologist. He was born in Broughton, Hampshire the son of physician Luther Owen Fox and Mary (née Tilbury) Fox, and the brother of Thomas Colcott Fox, also a dermatologist. From 1853 Tilbury Fox attended the University College Hospital medical school. He graduated in 1857 and received his MD in 1858. His first job was at University College Hospital as house physician to Sir William Jenner who was in charge of the dermatology department. He later took jobs at the General Lying-in Hospital in Lambeth and at a general practice. He decided to specialise in obstetrics and took the position of physician-accoucheur at the Farringdon General Dispensary. He was also a senior physician at St John's Hospital for Skin Diseases. Sir William Henry Broadbent
Sir William Henry Broadbent, 1st Baronet (23 January 1835 – 10 July 1907) was an English neurologist who was a leading British authority in the field of cardiology as well as neurology. He also performed research involving diseases such as tuberculosis and cancer. In 1881 he was elected President of the London Medical Society and in 1887 President of the Clinical Society of London. Broadbent was a Physician-Extraordinary to Queen Victoria and Physician-in-Ordinary to King Edward VII and the Prince of Wales. Early life and education Broadbent was born at Longwood Edge in Lindley, now part of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
