Thomas Hart (civil Servant)
Thomas Mure Hart, CMG (1 March 1909 – 16 January 2001) was a Scottish cricketer and rugby union player. He played twice for the Scotland national rugby union team and twice for the Scotland national cricket team as a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler. Hart served as the Financial Secretary to Singapore between 1954 and 1959. Biography Born in Glasgow in 1909, Hart was educated at Glasgow Academy, Strathallan School, Glasgow University and Brasenose College, Oxford. In 1930, he played twice for Scotland in the Five Nations against Wales and Ireland at centre. Scotland beating Wales 12–9 at Murrayfield on 1 February and losing 14–11 to Ireland at Murrayfield on 22 February. In 1931 he played two games for Leicester Tigers. Whilst attending Oxford University, Hart played for the university cricket team, playing ten first-class matches in 1931 and 1932, gaining his blue in both years. ''Hart's War'' is a 2002 American war drama film about a World War II prisoner of war (POW) camp based on the novel by John Katzenbach. It stars Bruce Willis as Col. Tom Hart (born October 8, 1969) is an People of the United States, American comics creator best known for his ''Hutch Owen'' series of comics. Career Tom Hart began making mini-comics while living in Seattle in the early 1990s. Like many of his colleagues including Megan Kelso, David Lasky, Dave Lasky, Jason Lutes, Jon Lewis, and James Sturm he was an early recipient of the Xeric Foundation grant for cartoonists. His Xeric-winning book, ''Hutch Owen's Working Hard'' was 56 pages and self-published in 1994. His next book, ''New Hat'', was published through Canadian publisher Black Eye Productions in 1995. Black Eye then published his next book, ''The Sands'', in 1997. Hart returned to the Hutch Owen series and published a first collection of stories with Top Shelf Productions in 2000. Willie MacFarlane (footballer Born 1930)
Willie MacFarlane (17 March 1930 – 11 March 2010) was a Scottish football player and manager who played for and managed Hibernian. Early life and playing career MacFarlane played as a full–back for Hibernian in the 1950s, when the club featured the forward line known as The Famous Five. He was born in Leith and brought up in the same area ( Hutchison) as goalkeeper Tommy Younger, with whom he played for Hutchison Vale and the Army. Both players were then signed for Hibs by manager Hugh Shaw. He was taken by Hibs on a tour of Brazil in 1953 to play in three games in the Maracana stadium against Vasco da Gama, Botafogo and Fluminense. MacFarlane also played for Hibs in the first season of the European Cup, playing in five of the six matches possible. Hibs eventually lost to Stade Reims in the semi-final, where MacFarlane was pitted against Raymond Kopa.
