Thomas H. Jonasson
Thomas Hjelm Jonasson (born 27 November 1988, in Vetlanda, Sweden) is an international motorcycle speedway rider, who ridden for the Swedish national speedway team. Career His introduction to British speedway in 2008 went well after he won the Premier League and the Premier Trophy with the Edinburgh Monarchs. In 2009, Jonasson continued to race for Elit Vetlanda Speedway in Sweden, Gorzów in Poland and Edinburgh. In 2010, he rode for Swindon Robins, with short stints at Poole Pirates in 2011 and Peterborough Panthers in 2012. In May 2013, he re-signed for Poole Pirates; In 2014, he became the champion of Sweden, winning the Swedish Individual Speedway Championship. In 2017, he signed for King's Lynn Stars. He returned to British speedway again for the 2019 season but only raced a handful of times of Berwick Bandits in the SGB Championship 2019 and Poole in the SGB Premiership 2019. Vetlanda
Vetlanda () is a locality and the seat of Vetlanda Municipality, Jönköping County, Sweden with 13,050 inhabitants in 2010. History Vetlanda was still nothing more than a village for several centuries. With the 1840s population boom in Småland, and the industrial revolution winning ground in Sweden, the industry expanded and people settled in the village. With the railways crossing Vetlanda in the late 19th century the population further blossomed, and Vetlanda got the title of a city on New Year's Day 1920, at which time its population amounted to 3,015. The coat of arms was selected as an ear of wheat, a derivation of the arms for the old jurisdiction Östra Härad ( sv), wherein ''Vitala'' was rumoured to have been the centre, that depicted three ears of wheat. Individual Speedway Junior World Championship
The Speedway Under-21 World Championship is an annual speedway event held each year organized by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) since 1977. As of 2022, the title was awarded to the winner of the SGP2 category at the FIM Speedway World Championship. History Between 1977 and 1987 the Championship was the called Individual Speedway Junior European Championship (European Speedway Under 21 Championship), open only to European riders. In 1979, the Championship allowed riders from other continents to compete, but was renamed to the Speedway World Under 21 Championship in 1988. SGB Premiership 2019
The SGB Premiership 2019 was the 85th season of the top division, called the SGB Premiership, of the British speedway championship in 2019. From the 2018 league season two teams, Leicester Lions and Somerset Rebels, dropped down to the next league down, the SGB Championship, and were replaced in the league by Ipswich Witches and Peterborough Panthers. Although no promotion or relegation exist in British speedway these changes were taken purely due to financial concerns of the teams that dropped out of the SGB Premiership. Rye House Rockets who had taken part in the previous SGB Premiership season closed down. 2019 teams Background The league ran between March and October 2019 and had seven teams participating. SGB Championship 2019
The SGB Championship 2019 is the second division of Great British speedway. The season runs between March and October 2019 and consisted of 12 participating teams. The current league champions are the Workington Comets who completed an excellent 2018 season winning three major trophies. Four new teams joined the SGB Championship in 2019 with two of them dropping down from the 2018 SGB Premiership league season these teams were Leicester Lions and Somerset Rebels with Ipswich Witches and Peterborough Panthers moving in the opposite direction. Two teams from the third tier of British speedway the National League Birmingham Brummies and Eastbourne Eagles moved up into this season's league while the Lakeside Hammers did not compete. Sweden are one of the major teams in international speedway. They have been managed by Mats Olsson, who is currently in his 2nd spell, since 2005 after he quit in 2000. The current captain is 2000 World Under-21 Champion Andreas Jonsson. Motorcycle Speedway
Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand).
