Thomas Gill (1788–1861)
Thomas Gill (1788 – 20 October 1861) was a British Whig politician and industrialist. Born in 1788 in Tavistock, Devon, Gill founded the Milbay Soaps Works in 1818 and, at some point, worked in the Tavistock Iron Works. He was also chairman of the South Devon Railway Company. Thomas Gill (architect)
Thomas Gill (1870 – 1941) was an American architect who worked in Honolulu, Hawaii, from 1899 to 1941. Early life and education Born in Brooklyn, New York, he studied at Brooklyn Polytechnic and Pratt Institute. Career Gill began his career in 1892 with Walbridge & Walbridge of Brooklyn, and later worked in Bellingham, Washington, before embarking on a world tour that landed him in Honolulu on December 9, 1898. There he found work with H. L. Kerr before opening up his own office in 1903. He was a founding member of the Oahu Country Club and designed its clubhouse, but otherwise designed mostly private residences, two of which are on the National Register of Historic Places: the Edgar and Lucy Henriques House (1904) and the Thomas Alexander Burningham House (1910). Thomas Ponce Gill (April 21, 1922 – June 3, 2009) was a Hawaii politician. A member of the Democratic party, he served in the United States Congress from 1963 to 1965 and was the third lieutenant governor of Hawaii from 1966 to 1970. Thomas Andrew Gill (January 23, 1887 – March 8, 1947) was an American football, and baseball player and coach of football, basketball, and baseball. Coaching career Gill was the head football coach at Lombard College in Galesburg, Illinois in 1912 and at Albion College in Albion, Michigan in 1913. He also coached Albion's baseball team in the spring of 1914. In May 1914, Gill was hired to coach football, basketball, at baseball at University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Gill served as the head football coach at Kentucky from 1918 to 1919, compiled a 5–5–1 record His 1918 team won two games, at Indiana, 24–7, and at , 21–3. They lost at Vanderbilt, 33–0. Thomas Edward Gill
Thomas Edward Gill (March 18, 1908 – November 11, 1973) was a Roman Catholic titular bishop of Lambaesis and auxiliary bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle. He is the first Seattle-born priest to be ordained a bishop. Born in Seattle, Washington, Gill was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Seattle on June 10, 1933, after completing his studies at St. Patrick's Seminary in Menlo Park, California. In 1939, Father Gill became the director of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Seattle, which was incorporated the following year in 1940 and coordinated orphanages as well as homes for the elderly and troubled youths. On April 11, 1956, Gill was appointed bishop, and was consecrated on May 31. As auxiliary bishop, Gill built Catholic Children's Services into the largest private child‐care agency in Washington state and served as the pastor of St. James Cathedral in Seattle. Thomas Paramor Gill (born 1960) is a Japan-based social anthropologist whose research has focused mainly on marginal groups in Japanese society. He was born in Portsmouth, UK, and got his doctorate in social anthropology from the London School of Economics in 1996. Thomas Harvey Gill (January 21, 1891 – May 21, 1972) was a leader in American forestry, adventurer, writer of popular fiction and editor of an academic journal. Forester Gill received a Master of Forestry degree from Yale University in 1915. Gill served with the U.S. Forest Service from 1915 to 1925, other than his service as a U.S. Army pilot during World War I. From 1926 to 1960, he served as secretary and forester for the Charles Lathrop Pack Forestry Foundation. Under the Oberlaender Trust of the Carl Schurz Memorial Foundation, Gill was part of the 1936 group of eight American foresters who toured Germany and Austria to observe and study forest management in Europe. Air Commodore Thomas Francis Gill, (31 January 1917 – 1 March 1982) was a New Zealand air force pilot and politician. He flew with the Royal Air Force throughout the Second World War and afterwards served with the Royal New Zealand Air Force until 1969.
