Thomas Fisher (MP)
Thomas Fisher or Hawkins (died 1577), was an English politician. Early life He was of obscure origin and was usually known by the name of Fisher, because his father was a fishmonger in Warwick. His ability recommended him to John Dudley, Viscount Lisle, who took him into his service, and on 4 May 1542 constituted him high steward and bailiff of his manor of Kibworth Beauchamp, Leicestershire. For his exercise of that office during life Fisher had an annuity granted to him, which was confirmed in the reign of Mary I. He became one of the two Members of Parliament for Warwick. Dissolution of the monasteries He contrived to accumulate a vast estate in monastery and church lands. Taunton (UK Parliament Constituency)
Taunton was a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom and its predecessors from 1295 to 2010, taking its name from the town of Taunton in Somerset. Until 1918, it was a parliamentary borough, electing two Member of Parliaments (MPs) between 1295 and 1885 and one from 1885 to 1918; the name was then transferred to a county constituency, electing one MP. In the boundary changes that came into effect at the general election of 2010, the Boundary Commission for England replaced Taunton with a modified constituency called Taunton Deane, to reflect the district name. Thomas Fisher (antiquary)
Thomas Fisher (1772–1836) was an English antiquary. Life Fisher was born in Rochester, Kent in or about 1781, the younger of the two sons of Thomas Fisher, printer, bookseller, and alderman of Rochester. In 1786 Fisher entered the India House as an extra clerk; in April 1816 he was appointed searcher of records. He retired on a pension in June 1834, after having spent in different offices under the company altogether forty-six years. He died unmarried on 20 July 1836, in his sixty-fifth year, at his lodgings in Church Street, Stoke Newington, and was buried on the 26th in Bunhill Fields. From the time of his coming to London he had resided at Gloucester Terrace, Hoxton, in the parish of Shoreditch. Before he left Rochester Fisher's work as a draughtsman attracted the attention of Isaac Taylor the engraver. He was also eminent as an antiquary. Thomas Fisher (Upper Canada)
Thomas Fisher (1792-1874) is a road builder, land developer, Squire, and Etobicoke Township pioneer. He immigrated from Yorkshire settled along the Humber River (Ontario), Humber River in 1822 and became a successful merchant-miller. His mill located at King's Mill, Toronto, King's Mill was acquired in 1821. Fisher is the namesake of Thomas Fisher Rare Books Library. The Department of Rare Books and Special Collections and the University Archives didn't have a permanent home until 1973 when the Thomas Fisher Rare Book library was opened. Great-grandsons, Sidney and Charles Fisher, donated to the library their own collections of Shakespeare, various twentieth-century authors, and etchings of Wenceslaus Hollar. Thomas Henry (born Thomas Henry Fisher) (1879–1962) was an England, English illustrator, best remembered for his illustrations of Richmal Crompton's Just William, William books. Biography Thomas Henry Fisher was born in 1879 at Eastwood, Nottinghamshire. The oldest of three brothers, he became an apprentice to T. Bailey Forman (Nottingham newspaper proprietors and printers) at the young age of fourteen. Numerous paintings and sketches he made outside contract were used by his employers for publishing merchandise like wall calendars. He concurrently attended the Nottingham Trent University, School of Art and Design, Nottingham School of Art. Cathrew Fisher
Thomas Cathrew Fisher (7 January 1871 – 8 November 1929) was an Anglican bishop. Fisher was born in Kempston and was educated at Uppingham School, Trinity College, Cambridge and Ripon College Cuddesdon. He was ordained deacon in 1895 and priest in 1896. His first position was as an assistant curate at St John the Divine's Kennington. Later he was the Assistant Diocesan Inspector of Schools in the Diocese of Rochester and then the General Diocesan Inspector of Schools in the Diocese of Oxford.
