Thomas Felton (KG)
Sir Thomas de Felton (died 2 April 1381) was an English landowner, military knight, envoy and administrator. He fought at the Battle of Crécy in 1346, and the Capture of Calais in 1347. He was also at the Battle of Poitiers in 1356. A recurrent figure in the '' Chronicles'' of Jean Froissart, he was a signatory to the Treaty of Brétigny in 1360. In 1362 he was appointed Seneschal of Aquitaine. He accompanied Edward the Black Prince on his Spanish campaign. He was taken prisoner by Henry of Trastámara's forces in 1367. In 1372 he was appointed joint-governor of Aquitaine and seneschal of Bordeaux. He caused Guillaume de Pommiers and his secretary to be beheaded for treason in 1377. He was invested a Knight of the Garter in 1381. Origins The de Feltons of Norfolk derived in a junior line from William Bertram, Baron of Mitford, Northumberland. Thomas Felton (martyr)
Thomas Felton (1566?–1588) was a Franciscan Minim, a Roman Catholic martyr and son of the Roman Catholic martyr, John Felton. Felton was born around 1566 at Bermondsey Abbey, Surrey, and was about four years old when his father was executed. When still young, he served as a page to Lady Lovett. He was then sent to the English College, Rheims, where he received the first tonsure from the hands of the Cardinal de Guise, archbishop of Rheims, in 1583. He then entered the order of Minims, but its austerities undermined his health and he returned to England, to settle his property and make provision for his profession. Attempting to return to France, Felton was arrested on the coast, brought to London, and committed to the Poultry Compter. About two years later his aunt, Mrs. Blount, obtained his release through the interest of some of her friends at court. Sir Thomas Felton, 4th Baronet
Sir Thomas Felton, 4th Baronet (12 October 1649 – 3 March 1709), of Whitehall, Westminster and Playford, Suffolk, was an English courtier and Whig politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1690 and 1709 . Felton was the son of Sir Henry Felton, 2nd Baronet of Playford, Suffolk and his wife Susanna Tollemache, daughter of Sir Lionel Tollemache, 2nd Baronet, of Helmingham. Felton was a Page of Honour from 1665 to 1671 and became Groom of the Bedchamber in March 1671. He was appointed Master of the Hawks in 1675. By 1679 he had left the post as Groom to King Charles through unknown circumstances. He had married Lady Elizabeth Howard, one of the daughters and coheirs of James Howard, 3rd Earl of Suffolk but she died in 1681.
